| Re: What's your new luggage strategy? Well I am heading off to Asia again in two weeks. So my strategy this time is to pack the new CCR (HammerMeg Movie size) into the carry-on with all it parts. I will also include a backpack. If it gets refused for carry-on then I will pack the sensitive parts (head) into the backpack and only carry those on board. I will not worry about the rest of the Meg getting damaged only lost which is a lower probability when its is taken at the gate. We will see how it goes. John |

| Re: What's your new luggage strategy? I reckon we should lobby for a new way of dealing with the whole issue. Weigh the passenger and their luggage...all together. It's hardly fair that some 280 lb lard-ass has no problem while the 180 lb guy with a rebreather in his carry on gets shafted. I resemble that remark. (almost) ![]() Not my fault your little giblet ass stopped growing. ![]() |

| Re: What's your new luggage strategy? John; Remember to use a fanny (belt) pouch under a loose fitting shirt. Pack valves, stages etc in it - you might then weight 280lb instead of 180 but at least its "hidden" and not a physical carry bag. You may get some strange looks from security though with the Xray. On a recent trip to the Philippines I had two handcarry bags. The Meg in a "stormcase". The airline in Vancouver wanted to put the Meg in regular luggage and charge extra. Airline rules say "life support equipment" can travel as hand luggage at no extra charge. I claimed the Meg as "life support equipment" with no oxygen bottle, showed them their rules and got away with taking it onboard. Hey to me it is life support.....I didnt make the rules......and you never know until you try. Dont know how long this loop-hole will last.....Next trip I'm thinking of trying it with a "red-cross/ medical; sticker" on the case ![]() Have a good time in Coron.
