![]() ![]() | Re: Chuuk (Truk) CCR friendly & best time of year I would check out the US Postal Service. For some crazy reason, Uncle Sam feels compelled to continue to offer US postal service with standard domestic rates to Truk. Might as well take advantage of our tax payments at work! It's pretty much like mailing a package from California to New York. That's what I thought... There was dancing in the streets when I saw that $40 would ship 45# of sorb to Truk in 2 weeks. However, I was a bit suspect as it was a small fraction of the UPS/etc alternatives. Several phone calls to a number of confused USPS agents revealed that despite this being listed as an option on the USPS website the service was not available. The reason given was that "USPS no longer ships ground to these sort of far-flung locales." Now, there seemed to be some uncertainty due to no one I spoke to actually having shipped anything to Truk (or knowing where it was for that matter), so I'd be quite keen to discover I'm wrong. You should be able to send it priority mail or parcel post.. There was a period of time (probably 2 or 3 years) but it was started up again in either 2005 or 2006 AFAIK.. You should be able to print an online shipping label and pay for it, the just drop it off at the post office... The last time I shipped anyting was in 2006 and that how I did it...
