![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Travel to Australia So it looks like I may have to spend a couple of years in Austrailia. What should I stock up on from the US before I move there? The plan is to dive my Evolution and maybe some trimix OC stuff as well. I'm guessing from threads here my DOT tanks may be unusable there (unless I fill them myself somehow). Any other regulatory issues I need to be ready for?

Nice, You will have a number of Active Rebreather users to play with in that region (about 8).maybe you want to contact some of the locals, you find some northQLDers here. Any other regulatory issues I need to be ready for? I've been to Oz a few times and they are quite civilised now. Thet have flush toilets, balck and white TV, and politicians. You might want to take a large stock of toilet paper 'cos they will take the SH out of you a bit. Some translations - Bear = Beer (which is absolute crap, but don't tell them I said os), "pissed" = drunk, "pissed off" = slighty annoyed, "shiela" = not his wife's name. You miht want to consider acclimatising in our South Island first, very similar there, lots of sheep and ......... ![]() |

We do... ![]() As for what to bring, don't bother with your drysuit. ![]() Townsville has some magic diving, one of the country's best wrecks (for fishlife only, VERY protected, not allowed to penetrate) in the SS Yongala. (google it, there's heaps of info), and some decent reefs too. If your familiar with the old NWDesigns rebreather list, you would have heard of "Tubby" who has just popped up again, he's been diving modified dolphins up there for years, and is just starting to get back into it. Water temps up there will range from 24 to 28deg C (no idea what that is in those wierd numbers you use!!!), 3mm wetty or less will do you fine year round. As for what else to bring, as you've already worked out, don't bother with cylinders, bring everything else. Price of dive gear over here is prohibitive, we tend to buy most of our stuff from the states anyway. ![]() Anything else specifically you were after? Feel free to keep the questions coming, I'm bored at work today. ![]()
