| EBT called me stroppy! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: North Carolina Rebreather Trip -- August 2008 From an ex-mate of Bobby Purifoy's (notice the correct spelling), I am going to throw in a little advice for all y'all trippers, which might just save some frustration for everyone involved. With 18 rebreathers on board, space will be limited. Those people who arrive first and claim their spot will get the good spots. Please, nobody bring an AL 80 as their bailout bottle. Keep this bottle as small as possible. It would be to your benefit if this bottle is an AL 19, so that you can stow it in your cubby hole underneath you. An AL 30 will also fit down there if you turn it diagnol. Bring a 40 if you must. I imagine with all of the camera equipment and probably scooters and 18 Rebreather's and 21 bodies it will be full. Don't bring any boxes on board. Don't bring your dive bag on board. Put all of your crap in your little cubby hole underneath your bench loose which should not consist of much more than: mask, fins, snorkel, booties, wetsuit, defog, reel, bottom timer....yes you heard me right put your wetsuit under the seat. Put your coolers on the sundeck. You guys should also coordinate with each other as far as spares go. If everybody brings a tool box full of spares, it'll just clutter the F out of the boat. Go to The Beaufort Grocery for dinner one night. Make reservations now. Go to Amos Mosquitos for dinner one night. Combine a trip to Fort Macon Park which is nearby (which is absolutely free!) before dinner. This is a must. Don't speed in your cars. The cops are ruthless to out of town speeders. Last thing, don't die!

| Re: North Carolina Rebreather Trip -- August 2008 Walt Any comments regarding the space on the boat. I have not been on their boat before so i do not know. Also would be interested in your perspective on what BO tanks to bring or not bring. I am not sure what kind of dive times and depths will be allowed but i was thinking there would be some deco involved and i might want more than just a 40 cuft tank. I hope things are not going to be as crowded as the earlier poster indicates. I experienced a boat off NJ once that was over booked and I have not been back to them since. The damage to my ccr and people having to move and step over life critical equipment did not make for an enjoyable trip. Since you have done the trip before and organizing I thought it best to ask for your guidance. John |

| Re: North Carolina Rebreather Trip -- August 2008 Any reports on water temps or expectations...? In Aug, I usually just take a 3 mm to Morehead City. This time of year it should be 80 degrees or a lilttle better - its Gulf Stream. At the depths we will be diving, it should be pretty warm all the way down.Something tells me I should plan on my drysuit or hit divers direct and buy a 5+mm |
