![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | USS SpikeFish July 2008 Hello Everyone, Again I am planning an expedition to get more Video and stills on the USS Spikefish, and I have a couple of openings. The sub is best know for the fact that as a training sub, was the first one in history to complete 10, 000 recorded dives. Below I have a few links to some of the History on the Sub. We depart on Tuesday July 22nd @ 11pm and return on Friday July 25th @ 5pm from Montauk, NY. The Sub lies in 260’ of water 50 miles south of Montauk, NY. The cost is going to be <$500. Included in the cost of the trip is the Tip for the crew, a T-Shirt, meals, snacks and drinks. You will need to be TRIMIXED Certified to come on the trip, the boat we use is the John Jack http://captainzero.com/home.html . She sits upright on the bottom and is wrapped in net with some net floating on the starboard side of the sail. I’d like Rebreather divers for the trip but will speak to anyone who would like to dive it open circuit. If you’re a Sub lover then you should get on the trip. If you have not been on one of my trips, you are missing a lot of fun. I can give more information to anyone on the Sub/Trip in person, I will be at the BTS March 28/29/30th (Beneath the Sea ) show in NJ or just shoot me an Email ( USSMEG@Juno.com) and we can set up time to talk, 978 930 7397 after 3.30 pm (EST) most days is fine or later. ![]() | Re: USS SpikeFish July 2008 I'm still looking for a few divers? Anybody out there love subs???? I love em. we've just returned from a trip to USS Lagarto SS 371 lost in the Gulf of Thailand. Fantastic every time.Later Paul did you get your trip off the ground? i think divers are expecting a boring dive when it comes to subs, but the Balao class is spectacular. 'Our' wreck is completely intact, two 5" guns, sits upright in 240'. did they strip the Spikefish before she was sunk? Jamie MV Trident |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: USS SpikeFish July 2008 We leave next Tuesday the 22nd. She has no guns as they were removed. But a lot of items are still on her. The Sand is 260' and deck is about 245. She has a large hole where they removed Batteries or something behind the sail about 10'. Can't wait to get on her again. Later Paul |
