| CCR in Tortola, BVI? I will be sailing around Tortola from 5-June to 12-June with a bunch of divers. Anyone know of a CCR friendly shop? I would like to rent cylinders if possible. If not, I will ship them there. I am looking to ship extendair to the marina - anyone have any idea of the % of VAT or customs duties I might get hit with? Any problem with getting US DOT marked cylinders filled there? We will need O2 fills but a cascade would work, as I have the AL20's and don't need a full 3000 PSI of O2. Any help is greatly appreciated. Last edited by Tienuts : 27th February 2008 at 16:52. |

The only O2 we found was welding grade and it was 95% and we paid US$150 plus a $150 deposit for 330cu.ft. storage tanks at 2200 psi. The local dive shops will require your tanks to have a local vis inspection. Don't forget to get your goverment park fee paid to use the dive moorings and don't use the yellow dive moorings which are for dive shop boats only. We never found a dive site deeper than 27 meters. Don't eat the local fish in the area. The diving is average for the Carribbean. We found the diving Northside of Jost Van Dyke and in Culbrea to be above average. This area has some of the best sailing (lots of wind) with lots to explore. We had some awesome experiences with dolphins on snorkel, on the Northside of Tortola. If you ever get to the Cayman Islands, Divetech is a very freindly CCR dive shop with awesome deepwall and shallow walls reefs with 100+ vis year round. The sailing adventure is not as great as the BVI but the CCR diving adventures are just awesome. Have a great trip. |
