| RBW Member Current Rebreather/s: | Philippines CCR Wreck Diving October 2008 Hi All, Since coming back from Coron Bay last October I have been going through the logistics of putting together another trip. This time I would like to try and get all 10 spots filled with CCR divers. The plan is to have everyone meet up in Manilla Saturday 11-10-2008 and then as a group fly out to Buswanga in the Palawan Islands. Take a ride in a Jeepnee and a boat ride to Sangat Island in Coron Bay. dive_map_gr.jpg Accommodation on the Island is single and twin share bamboo huts which are very comfortable and have ensuite, veranda etc. Mains power is available for battery charging etc too. The main building houses the restraurant, Bar and office. Meals are supplied and have a good variety and will satisfy the biggest appetite.sangat is 2007 345.jpg sangat is 2007 237.jpg 5 days of diving these 8 Japanese WW2 wrecks will give you the choice of up to 12 dives with the deepest being around the 40-43 metre range. The majority of the other wrecks being in the 25-35 metre range. irako.jpg sangat is 2007 077.jpg Departing the Island on Friday 17-10-2008 we will be back in Manilla early that evening and stay overnight again and fly out the following day. We will have O2 and sorb available on the island and will be charged in addition to the price of the trip. I am working on having some tanks available at the Island but can't promise anything at this time, but let me know what you need and I will see what I can arrange. I am waiting to hear back with a firm price for the trip and will post it as soon as I have it. What I need is to get a rough idea of numbers for the planning, as I have indicated there will most likely be around 10 of us. If that were to increase by a few I don't think it will be a problem but the sooner I know the better. So what I need now, is to get an idea of those interested in joining in on this trip, what unit you will be diving and what tanks you need. I know it's a bit hard without knowing the actual cost but it won't be terribly expensive. Regards, Lance

| Re: Philippines CCR Wreck Diving October 2008 Lemme try and talk Padipro and Mempilot into it... Ballpark on airfare from Miami is $1200 USD... We'd be on Meg's.., 2L or 3L preferred... Are the dive trips all day? or half day?, i.e. why only 12 dives, seems low...? (12 OW profile dives? or 12 CCR profile/deco dives?) Last edited by netmage : 8th February 2008 at 12:51. I have included the map of the bay which shows the position of the wrecks and dive sites. The closest wreck is only about 3 mins boat ride from the resort, the furthest they usually make it a day trip of it and is only very shallow so gas and scrubber duration isn't an issue. The other dives, they load up and zip out to the site and dive the wreck and come back when everyone is back on board. They are pretty flexible and weren't worried if we wanted to do 3 dives a day. They just loaded us up and took us there and back.Ballpark on airfare from Miami is $1200 USD... We'd be on Meg's.., 2L or 3L preferred... Are the dive trips all day? or half day?, i.e. why only 12 dives, seems low...? (12 OW profile dives? or 12 CCR profile/deco dives?) If we can get a good showing of CCR divers we can stay down pretty much as long as we like, meaning we would probably only get 2 dives a day in. If we have a few OC guys they have a few boats and we can split up the different divers and we can still do some decent dive times. I am still waiting to hear back from Andy....maybe we can take more but the last time I went over we had a group of 9 and there didn't seem to be a lot more room........ Should we get more guys wanting to go, we can look at it if and when it happens. Regards, Lance

| Re: Philippines CCR Wreck Diving October 2008 Lance I will be in Thailand Sept 16th - Nov 8th. During that time I wanted to get over to PI to do some cave diving with ANDIBK and also some wreck diving. Your trip might be perfect timing. I would arange my own air travel from Thailand to meet up. I would either be on a Inspiration or a Classic Kiss. I probably will bring my own O2 and Dill tanks but would need BO/Deco. Let me know the price excluding airfare when you have the information. John |

Served up with garlic and soy sauce with dinner....Wasn't too bad!!! It was definately better than the Balout!!!! Lance

Due to the different origins for most the divers it's going to be a lot easier to all meet up in Manilla. I will make some reservations for us all to stay at a Hotel and then arrange a bus to transfer us and our gear to the airport for the trip to Buswanga and again on the return. They have mostly larger tanks there which will be good for BO/Deco gas but if I remember they are nearly all A Clamp so you will need to bring adapters if you have DIN....like 99% of us do!!! The other thing to remember is your stage slings as they usually use their tanks for OC guys. I have had a reply from Andy and we are working on the pricing now. Will keep you posted. Regards, Lance

If you click on the map image it will take you to the website and you can then click on and look at the specs of each of the wrecks. The Akitsushima, Seaplane tender was an awesome dive and my favourite. It has 2 huge cranes and massive winches, twin diesels, guns and we saw a live bomb. Fantastic dive and can't wait to go back!!
