| Born Again Diver! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Philippines CCR Wreck Diving October 2008 Thanks, I'll pass it on. I'm sat in the hotel lobby here in Manila after one or 5 margeritas (plus afew beers) with a sense of well being and an affection for the Philippines... The trip is going to be good! Dave

| Re: Philippines CCR Wreck Diving October 2008 Lance I just read Matt's Coron, Subic, PG report and it prompted a couple of logisitic questions for our trip in Oct. I am leaving for Asia in mid Sept so I need to make all my arrangement earlier than the trip. Matt says:"The bucket (18 kg) of Co2 absorbent retail cost in Manila at the supplier is $ 214 usd. When the bucket reaches Puerto Galera the same bucket as having traveled and reaching another retail location is now $ 305 usd retail at Tech Asia. When the bucket reaches Sangat Island in Coron Bay area the same bucket is now $ 600 usd retail (no typo) due to travel and a remote retail location. In order to save money you could pre-order the buckets in Manila and pick them up at the supplier location or have them shipped to your hotel in Manila if you stay one night there as we have." What are the plans for CO2 and cost? Matt says:"I change my CCR onboard tanks over from my 13 cft tanks to 40 cft tanks as there is no booster on the island to bring my oxygen pressure up, so I rather dive larger tanks to have enough reserves to make two dives without the need of refilling in-between dives." What is the plan....someone bringing O2 booster? Matt says:"lots of 80 cft alm tanks with DIN valves, only two 40 cft alm tanks available both with yoke valves. No rebreather tanks" I guess we need to bring materials to rig a 80cuft bo tank and our own Rebreather tanks? Thanks, John |

Thanks, John The plan at the moment is to ship Sofnolime direct from the factory to Sangat Is. I am still working on getting the best price on shipping and will let everyone know when I have it sorted. It will cost whatever it costs me to buy it and get it sent there.....Will advise when I know. Plans for CO2......Not sure about that one.....There is plenty of O2 on the Island and they can fill to 100bar or 1500psi....there is no booster. Considering the majority of dives will be within 15mins of the Island/Resort there is no need for any more. I think 2 fairly long dives a day will suit everyone so after the first dive we go back to the Resort and have a Siesta and then head out for the afternoon dive with 100bar in the tanks again. Technically speaking there should be enough O2 for 5 hours diving if you have 3 litre tanks. If someone wants to bring a booster that will be great!! There are no 2 or 3 litre tanks on the island so we are going to have to take our own. I will send a few sets up if I have to send the sorb from here otherwise we will have to take our own. (It'll be safest if we all plan that anyway) There are no bail out tanks other than S80 tanks with the exception of a few S40 tanks.....Plan on them all having YOKE type valves so if you're like me and have all DIN first stages then bring an adapter. (This was made clear in previous posts) And bring your own rigging kits.....these tanks are mainly used by OC guys and we will be using them as bailout tanks. That's about it........ Lance

| Re: Philippines CCR Wreck Diving October 2008 Hi John, The plan at the moment is to ship Sofnolime direct from the factory to Sangat Is. damn thats going to be damned expensive. you prob end up paying around US$350 per tub!!In phil I usually pick up sodasorb from local supplier for around USD$120 per tub usd600 to coron is bullshit - speak to Guenter I suspect he can organise for you at less than half that. damn you can fly a tub from Manila to coron as check in for a tiny fraction of that so imagine what local boat boys would want to throw it in weekly island shipping

| RBW Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Philippines CCR Wreck Diving October 2008 It looks as tho there will be nine of us on the trip this year. Eight divers with rebreathers and Stuey's wife will be coming along to carry his excess baggage......Now that has got to be "True Love" if I have ever seen it ![]() I have been in touch with Andy over the past few weeks and he assures me he has made a few changes to accommodate rebreather divers so we will find out for ourselves soon!! The best news is they will have a booster there from our trip onwards, when I bring it and leave it there, so that will make it a lot easier for everyone from now on and Matt will be able to dive with more "conventional" sized tanks next time ![]() Philippine Airlines are now flying a 48 seater into Busuanga now, I'd say it's probably a Dash8, and that they can now carry all the baggage including everyones excess. They only allow 10kgs of free checked baggage but excess is charged at about $1.00US/Kilo so it's not going to break the bank. Will post any more news as it comes to hand. Regards, Lance

| RBW Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Philippines CCR Wreck Diving October 2008 Hi Teejf, Our sorb is being arranged by the resort on Sangat Island. I have ordered a bit extra and will be leaving it there and will sell it on to anyone else wanting to dive their rebreather whilst there. More good news is that I will be leaving a booster on the Island for future use. They already keep plenty of O2 so this will make it a whole lot easier in the the future. PM me if you need any further details. Regards, Lance
