With flying first class, will you be able to check all your gear, or do you still have to ship some stuff ahead of time to Panama? cheers, RBN

| Re: Malpelo Rebreather Trip 07.23-08.03, 2008 Hi Teksimple, It is mutual. Sounds Fantastic. I am looking forward to meeting you in Panama! With flying first class, will you be able to check all your gear, or do you still have to ship some stuff ahead of time to Panama? cheers, RBN I am supposedly allowed 3x70lbs in first class. Even if I take my 15.5 and a massive HD housing (as opposed to my Sport KISS and mini HD housing), I think I will be OK. And speaking of massive HD housings, did you hear that Panamanian authorities want to extort $3,000 for every 30 minutes of underwater video filmed at Coiba? As if anyone would really pay that much instead of going somewhere else to film.

I know that for Malpelo if it is for commercial use the Colombian authorities want 500$ per shooting day. Maybe this fee has gone up, but that was the case about a year or two ago. Or do it like someone I know, they went to go shoot video of sharks, and they just told no one that it is for commercial use. Since they were on a cattle live aboard with lots of bubble blowers and other divers shot video as well, the question was never even raised. In the end the footage appeard on TV in a documentary. ![]() Some other divers I know have shot video in the Coibas, (not for production) and they never paied a penny. cheers, RBN
