I can 2nd that recomendation. TCI is the best diving I've done in the Carribbean/Atlantic-very good shark activity. O2Tech are a good operation but not cheap-you will most likely have to pay for a CCR guide if you are by yourself. But see if you can work out a some kind of deal as they usually have somebody on staff who just got trained and needs the hrs. But, in TCI there is very little to do except dive, gamble and sit on the beach as they are basically desert islands... |

Gill, have you been diving other places in Indonesia that you would recommend, how does the diversity, abundance and overall ocean ecosystem health compare? My other experience in Indonesia is limited - just a trip to Lembeh over 10 years ago, and a couple of dives in Bali last year. I'd say that the diversity at Wakatobi was much better than what I saw in Bali, and on par with Lembeh. I saw most of the same critters at Wakatobi that I hunted for in Lembeh, but also was treated to beautiful walls (stretching right up to the surface) and abundant life everywhere. What you won't find at Wakatobi is large pelagics. I spotted a couple of small sharks from quite a distance and a pair of mobula, but nothing else big. But for Pygmy Seahorse, Leaf Scorpion Fish, Ghost Pipefish, Razorfish, Mandarins, Ribbon Eels, and such, it's hard to beat Wakatobi. cheers... |

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: I'm looking for a good Rebreather resort destination... Hi Curt, what is included in the price? I'm guessing that airfare is not, right? And how many CCR divers will you have and will they have a seperate boat? Andy,Airfare *is* included. It's based on Washington DC, but we're going via JFK, so it shouldn't vary much for other origin airports in the US. Also included are airport transfers, ten days at Wakatobi, and four nights in Bali (two on the way out, two on the way back). Don't know how many CCR divers we'll have. While there probably won't be a separate boat for CCR's (could be if we have enough, though...), there are three scheduled 70-minute boat dives every day (and CCR divers could certainly have a separate guide), and unlimited shore diving. Really good shore diving, at that. cheers... |

For me, 70 minute dives are too short and I would not want to dive with any OC divers as the chances of seeing whatever big stuff there may be is greatly diminished. Are there plans for any diving in Bali? Last edited by silent running : 4th January 2008 at 23:27. |

No others, so far.Quote: For me, 70 minute dives are too short and I would not want to dive with any OC divers as the chances of seeing whatever big stuff there may be is greatly diminished. Not a problem - those are just the scheduled boat dives, and you are not required to do them. Shore dives and "taxi" dives are unlimited. No worry about OC divers chasing off the big stuff, as there isn't any.Quote: Are there plans for any diving in Bali? No plans, but it could happen.cheers... |

| Re: I'm looking for a good Rebreather resort destination... Hi guys, I think Sorb & O2 are available in Bali now. The dive center is BIDP-balidiving.com, they do fills for O2,Trimix provide sorb and they do run trips to awesome spots. With all due respect, but Thailand is nothing compare to Bali, and the price is pretty much the same. Tks, BB |
