Getting Oxygen in Korcula, Croatia

Hi All,

I've been trawling through the posts over the past 24 hours on the subject of Croatia and rebreathers.

I went out there earlier this year to Korcula to a dive centre on the island, and had a good time. Thing is I'd like to go back with some people who are rebreather divers to explore the Southern part of the island. Now Steve who owns the dive centre we used, tells me that the cost of getting oxygen onto the island is very high. So I'm trying to find a centre near Korcula who could help us on oxygen.

I've seen some posts around the Kron Diving Operation but getting there is very difficult from Korcula.

So if anyone knows of a place where I can get cylinders filled with O2 near or on Korcula that would be great.

Thanks - Andy

Re: Getting Oxygen in Korcula, Croatia

I was in the area a little over a month ago, it was not a diving vacation so only got one dive in. We were on a sailboat and did not go into Vela Luka on Korcula because it was described as "industrial". I wonder if a medical or aviation source could be found there? Also Dubrovnik isn't too far from Korcula, there were several dive centers located there. I didn't have a chance to look in on them however.

There are a number of wrecks around the island of Vis (to the west of Korcula) that would be best done on a rebreather.

I'd recommend Vis as well. There are some nice wrecks out there. Contact Issa Diving Centre...they're in to tech diving. Marc
