| Re: wrecks in Lebanon? "Victoria." Supposedly it is a vertical wreck starting from around 75m going down to the seabed around 145m. I have read the article in a dive magazine, but forgot which one...

| Re: wrecks in Lebanon? Mark Ellyat's site's got some video on it from memory, and there's more info there. Not sure who's running things out there. With all the disruption in the Middle East it's hard to tell what's going to have changed in the last few months. Lebanon Tech Diving & HMS Victoria Lebanon Divers seems to be the company dealing with HMS Victoria. Google is your friend for history etc on this wreck. As for diving it, who knows. If you do dive it please let me know who with and how it goes. Been very interested in this one for a couple of years, along with a few others locally. Digs. |

One of our local Rebreather regular buddies is working in Lebanon at the moment, and he mentioned (just a few days ago) that he found the group who could organize a trip to the Victoria. The tentative plan is mid-October... but with the recent instability surrounding Lebanon, I (personally) am not sure if I want to ship a bunch of expensive RBs there yet.

| Smeagle-the dive carnival Current Rebreather/s: | Interesting how those sons of a guns got to dive the VIC!!!!???? I know that Walid Noshie, GREAT GUY... out of the Riviera Hotel/ Yacht club and NISD dive center dives it. But he does it OC. Scuba Diving In Lebanon is a great site of his group. There's quite a bit of info on the wrecks in it This group is a great bunch of guys! As far as CCR and even rebreathing in general is concerned.... I get the feeling Lebanon is pretty dry. But me being the revolution sort I'm out to change that. As Deco said. Lebanon is unstable scary scary run like hell and make sure they don't shoot you in the territory. Although that could be because nobody parties like the Lebanese, Cooks like the lebanese and none of the women in the area are anywhere near as HOT looking like the Lebanese. Been living here for 3 years YES THAT INCLUDES THE PERIOD where Israel was bombing the country. Through it all I have never had a more comfortable, fun, and happy, little set of experiences with wonderful people. What is travel if you don't go do something new. Lemme know when you get in. I'd love to introduce you to the nightlife here!

| Re: wrecks in Lebanon? Thanks for the replies and info guys. in fact this is what i was thinking. i haven't checked out, but i know Louis Cruises Lines (like the one that went down in Santorini ) are doing ferry cruises to Lebanon for the weekends. So, carrying Rebreather and Scooters will not be a problem i guess. i ' ll let you know.i am expecting my buddy to be here next month, so the possibility of having a visit to Lebanon and that wreck sure looks very promising. Oh, by the way, i 've heard a lot of interesting comments about the Lebanese and nightlife. what's the situation over there now? Take care Spyros

I SAW IT YESTERDAY IN THE SHOP!Dont even start about that! I was there from 99-00 and still has good memories and scars from partying at Beirut WOOO HOOO Like I said BEIRUT... all sorts of wonderful craziness!!!![]() ps. Last word was from Beirut that Sharks are sighted, so the season is kicking in! Yes we have been waiting around for him but with the recent weather issues it's been a bit rough getting the boat out to spot him off of the lighthouse. We've had a light jellyfish season and the visibility is amazingly blue some days but other days make you want to ditch the dive entirely as you drop through the first 15 Meters (viz being around 5 meters or is it me being spoilt![]() ). Down at the bottom it stays wonderfully sexy!!! There is supposed to be a big do in politics but to be honest most people don't give a rat's ! These people have had enough of wars and silliness they want the beach, great food, and parties . So it's like our dj said ( he just finished a great techno event here last night) "They make it sound so bad but this place is HEAVEN!!! the crowd the people the food it's WONDERFUL!!!"
