| RebreatherWorld Sponsor ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Costa Rica I find that I will be in Costa Rica the first week of August this year with my ISAM group. I would like to take my KISS with me to dick around with the OC peeps. I will be diving with Ocotal. I have sent them some emails to get info on oxygen and cylinders but have not had prompt reply. Anyone here been diving in Costa Rica ? And were you able to get oxygen, cylinders and sorb there ? Any help is appreciated. Cheers JDS

| Re: Costa Rica hey joel whats up? i have taken two trips to costa rica, both were eco tour trips with diving as part of the package, ie three days diving in 7 day trip. CR is a nice friendly country, not a lot of anti us feelings in the people and the country is built up enuff to be comfortable. electric is 110 and the water is drinkable most everywhere, should be a plus when rinsing counterlungs. the diving is nearshore pacific ocean, kinda cloudy but can be good, 30/40 ft vis is a great day, lots of life big and small. if you staying octal youll want to dive the bat/catalina islands, ususally sold as an upgrade but worth the ride. we stayed in playa hermosa at villa sol, dove with diving safaris, ed is a nice guy. they only had air, werent doing nitrox as recent as last december. they anchor their boats in the cove and a panga brigs you in/out via the beach. so be prepared for surf transits w/you gear. they usually leave you gear on the boat overnite. cant see you leaving the rig alone like that. i carried my cameras and computer back and forth each day. afaik there is another operator out of flamingo beach marina which from their web site shows a dock andthey advertise nitrox so they must have o2. i am in the process of getting a rEvo and i think i may go back this january, so id like to hear how everythign goes for you. best, al marvelli |

| Re: Costa Rica I've been to Ocotal, Playa Hermosa and Cocos Island. Diving Safaris was doing Nitrox last time I was a couple summers ago. I think it might be hard to find both O2 and sorb there. There's a dive company called undersea hunter (underseahunter.com), based out of a Puntarenas a good bit south of where you'll be. They run trips to Cocos and have supplies for rebreather divers. They have both 4-8 sorb and O2. Getting those up to where you will be may take a little time or money, but they can probably at least get you some good info. Other than that, I'd say to call around the local dive shops in the northwest coast and ask about O2. |

I'm at Ocotal Scuba Diving Costa Rica at Ocotal Beach Resort with my physician group I work with every year ISAM International Society of Aquatic Medicine now just figuring out how to pack this thing tiny. If it becomes too much of a hassle I will have to blow bubbles ..... what a convert I have become. Cheers JDS
