Going to Kingston, Ontario Hello, I am planning a trip for a group of divers from the Boston area to Kingston, Ontario. We need a tek shop and tek friendly boat and any advice, stories, things to do/see/etc. both below and above the h20. Thanks in advance!

Re: Going to Kingston, Ontario There are only two major Dive shops in Kingston Limestone Dive centre and Northern Tech Diver (NTD). I've used charters out of Limestone and they are good but not really tech focussed would be worth a call for a boat if you can't get something with NTD Northern Tech is a GUE/DIR shop so nothing really in the way of Rebreather support other than O2 fills (not sure if they have a booster) but they do charters and can support tech diving give them a call. About 45 minutes east on the 401 is Dive Tech in Mallorytown (http://www.divetech.ca/) they have sorb and do boosted O2 fills just west of Brockville is ABUCS scuba (http://www.divebrockville.com/) which is owned and shares a location with Silent Diving Systems (http://www.silentdiving.com/) the North American distributor and service location for AP diving (Inspiration) products. Charters out of Brockville/ Rockport are also where you can get to the jodrey, the Keystorm, the a.e. Vickery, the oconto etc. Another option to check out is Ducks Dive near Picton (http://www.ducksdive.com/) - Susan and George run a cottage and charter operation out of - point traverse they can support Tech dives and they have some recently discovered wrecks in the 150 to 170 ft range that are on my to do list - They also are closer to some of the better Kingston wrecks that overlap with the ones NTD does as well as having some wrecks the Kingston charters don't go to. The cottages are "rustic" but comfortable and cheap. You'll have to bring you own sorb but email them about O2 or the possibility of getting He (if needed).

Re: Going to Kingston, Ontario If you're looking for a touristy thing to do above water Fort Henry puts on a good show. For food and drink the Kingston brew pub right down by the water is great any of the restaurants around there are worth doing. Lone star grill is good too for great Tex Mex I recommend the Fajitas For breakfast Morrison's is great if you get up early and beat the lines (it's popular) BTW I lived in Kingston for 3 years (before I was a diver) but was there last weekend for Canada Day Shoot me anymore questions I'll do my best to point you the right way

Re: Going to Kingston, Ontario Late to the party. NTD is my recommended tech friendly charter in Kingston, although all the wrecks there are shallowish, so any boat would probably do. If you are travelling to the area, i'd spend half of the time in Kingston/Picton (Ducks Dive) and the other half diving the river. Water will be warm too. Dive sites in Kingston& Picton: Lake Ontario River: St.Lawrence
