Where's best to find last minute deals please?

I reckon cheapest way of doing it is getting last minute charter flight to red sea area then renting a dump of a flat for a number of weeks - and hooking up with tekstreme or someone?

Fiji has some good deals at the moment. Apparently the tourist volumes have dropped for some reason.

Not sure what you are looking for... value and money are all relative. One of the best deals I found in Fiji was with Dolphin bay divers (http://www.dolphinbaydivers.com/links.htm). You would need to work something out for O2. Don't bother going if you are looking for 5 star. Do go if you want to find a hide away, with no roads leading to it, just five minutes from reainbow reef! it's on the same side of the passage as the reef it's self...no long boat ride (which is what everyone does every day from Taveuni). Getting there sounds a lot more trouble than it's worth but in actuality it's very worth it and not a big deal and once you are there it's sablime. You have to fly in to the main iarport, take an island hopper to Taveuni and then taxi by boat across the channell to this remote little paradise on Venua levu. They are great people and very reasonably priced. you can walk for hours on the beach without seeing another person. Very simple accomodations, simple but very delicious food... oh what I would give to go back with a rebreather...will do someday soon! it's worth checking out to see if they will allow rebreathers...it's a very small opperation and will probably be glad to have the business.

for another rustic expedition, you can look into diving in Ambon indonesia (http://www.divingmaluku.com/index.html). They can rent welding o2 bottles for you if you can trans fill or boost. Very nice people...very rustic as well. Don't bother going unless you are the type that can enjoy roughing it a little for a very reasonable price. Pulau tiga (the three islands) is worth paying the fuel sir charge to get to...amazing coral and lots of sharks! If you can get a few folks together, they will work you out a deal for you for a dedicated boat (no OC divers ). they let us do 3, 100 minute dives a day plus a shore night dive if we wished. Again, we had to take total responsibility for our rebreather needs. Be ready for current, it's got big current!
