| NEWS...NEWS...NEW…NEWS...NEWS The newsletter of DIVE-TEK CYPRUS, the only 100% Tech Diving facility in Cyprus 2nd QUARTER 2007 Hi Folks, Well, it’s certainly hotting-up over here, with temperatures around 30°C, blue skies, blue seas, and ice-cold beers! April kicked-off with a 10-day visit from Stuart Ford and his wife, Sarah, who came over for a break to chill out and get some Zenobia diving in. Stuart was also trialing a new handset config on the Meg – his report can be seen at: http://www.rebreatherworld.com/rebreather-accessories-articles/11692-universal-rebreather-monitor.html#post113509 . Many thanks for the coverage, Stuart. Stuart’s departure was closely followed by Rasmus Lauritsen arriving from Nortech Denmark, to start running a solid month of training through April/May, with a steady stream of IANTD students completing Meg, COPIS Meg and Ouroboros (1st in Cyprus!!?) Mod 1, and both CCR & OC Technical Wreck programs. Congrats go to the following:
invitation, and to do some coverage of Dive-Tek. His article should be appearing in Dyk around September, and hopefully may get published in Diver, too J. Pete Crane and I also got into the spirit of things, with Pete completing Meg Mod1, and IANTD Advanced Nitrox Instructor. Yours truly did a crossover to Normoxic Trimix Instructor, and also Instructor ratings for Trimix Blender and LSST. Many thanks, Rasmus, making coffee for you every morning was worth it )!Rasmus has scheduled courses running here in August and September for CCR and Tech Wreck, so check our website for details, or drop us a line if interested. DIVE CENTRE Behind schedule (it’s Cyprus…!), but near completion, the Dive Centre will be fully functional next month, with all planned improvements in-place, including:
We are always seeking other dive centres and clubs to work with, taking your customer or club referrals for Tech courses, Summer & Winter breaks, and Zenobia diving. Please drop us a line if you’d like to find out more. We also welcome non-tekkies through our associate PADI, BSAC & ITDA Sports Diving centre, Scandidive Cyprus. Drop Clive at Scandidive a line at: info@scandidivecyprus.com for info. TRAINING & TRIPS We still have places available in August and September for Mod 1 and Tech Wreck with Rasmus – drop us a line if interested. We also have 2 places on Normoxic Trimix 12th -19th August available. Diver Medic and Blender courses are being run end of June, and BSAC Tech courses are scheduled to start in July. Check website or email for info. For BSAC members, we’ll shortly be getting some write-ups about Cyprus diving and the Zenobia, with photos, onto the Travel Club site, at the kind invitation of Alison Boler, so keep an eye out. We’ve teamed-up with local BSAC Training Centre, Scandidive Cyprus, to offer a full BSAC service to members, branches and schools, and welcome all enquiries for Technical and Sport training, diving support and branch hosting, shore or Zenobia diving. Special package deals are available for Instructors and organised groups. Contact us for details. We’ll be putting together some Training Package deals for this Winter, with one-week trips to include accommodation, airport transfers, 2/3 Dry Course (Blender, Technician, Medic etc.), and 2-days diving all-in. Watch this space… Mark Powell still has some places for his October trip, so contact him for details – info@dive-tech.co.uk FINALLY… Our website is STILL being continually up-dated (in-between dives!), and has some new improvements including a comprehensive Links page to other useful sites and supporters. If you would like to add your site, please contact us and we'll be happy to exchange reciprocal links. We’ll also have the long-promised Downloads page up shortly, with plenty of info for students and divers alike. For those acquainted with Colin Mackenzie (GT) and Dan Parker’s crowd back in UK, they’ve got a full season planned, so we hope to get some reports of their wreck trips soon. Future dates for your diary – we’ll be at NEC 13/14 October, on the ITDA stand #940, so drop-in and make yourselves known. Meantime, wetsuits are order of the day, the sea’s like a millpond, so get on over for some training or deep Zen penetration (?!). We’ve got some new discounted hotel or s/c apartment accommodation (the Kama’s shut-down – sorry, Mark), we’ll organize your airport transfers, and guide you to the better food & watering holes! Hope to see you out here for 2007.

| Re: DIVE-TEK Cyprus Spring Newsletter Interesting update Rob, I was wondering beyond the Zenobia, are there any deep wrecks on the island; and could you give a flavour for the deeper sites you know, deeper in this sense meaning down to the 100m mark. Also what are the chances of getting the weather blowing out diving at the end of October / begining of November Thanks Joe
