| O2 costs - Lanzarote Hi all, I am going to sunny Lanzarote for a trip towards the end of the year and have been in touch with a very good dive centre (I have used them before) and quieried about me taking my Yellow Box with me. They have been great and have manged to arrange some cylinders, gas and kitty litter for me. Now the bad news, I am looking at 6 cents (Euro) per litre of O2. Now, I'm no maths genius, but this works out at £28 per full fill. I pay around £7 in the UK!! I can appreciate the import costs, luxury tax, I don't know what tax but 4 times? Bit steep? Or am I just being tight? Haven't had the kitty litter price yet! Any feedback would be great!!! Thanks John ![]()

| Re: O2 costs - Lanzarote I once had to pay 24c/litre for Helium in the Philippines. Effectively I was paying 4-5c for the gas and the rest was transport to a remote location, because oil has gone through the roof, and marine freight rates are stratospheric (take a look at the global Baltic Dry Index: up 45.2% year-to-date). Doubtless the shopkeeper was a pirate and was exploiting a monopoly position also: these people need naming and shaming. You don't have a whole lot of leverage: you could ship a large tank and some fill whips but find both the logistics are more time-consuming, and the costs higher, than you'd imagined. As a percentage of your total trip cost, gas is not large. I'd pour yourself a glass of ice-cold stress medicine, take a sun bath and let it go. At least you're saving a ton on the dil compared to OC. ![]() |

Last trip to Chuuk I paid $36 per fill of a 3l cylinder (regardless if there was any left or not).. Thats $0.066 per liter..![]()

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Hello 6 cents per litre of O2 is way too expensive. Have a look at Marina Rubicon dive center webpage, you will find the price is 3 cents of a euro per litre. you can also have your tank pumped up to 200 bars with one of our two boosters and any mix for diluent from air to trimix. besides you do not have to bring your own cilinders as we have some for rental which will save you some weight on the plane. talk to you soon Chris
