Sipadan/Kapalai

Hi List,

Having booked a trip to Kapalai, i'm wondering if any one knows a Rebreather friendly base around there. I always can go OC but realy like to

that.

My girl would like to take her Dolphin and for myself the Meg (if that wouldnt be possible I could take a dolphin also)

Any tips or suggestions are more than welcome.

There was a technical(ish) centre on Mabul, I think Phi has used them at some point.

Hey Flup,

Don't tell me you are going there also :-) ... I'll be there next week for 2 weeks staying at Mabul. Unfortunately bubbleblowing this time as my girlfriend isn't on a breather (yet) ...

Hopefully the new housing for my DSLR will work as expected so I can at least have fun snapping pictures. Should be great diving though ...

Hi PAulie,

Going there to celibrate the holidays (christmas and new year) so it will take a while and gives me plenty of time to prepare. But first i get some long weekends in Belgium, Germany (lake diving) and France (cave diving) before i set off to the far East.

Have fun next couple weeks and let me know how it was.

I'll have a look at Mabul Tech diving as suggested in an earlier message as that's the operator we'll be diving with. I'll let you know (firsthand) what their services are.

Have fun in those caves ... I should be doing that more often also :-(

As keng said, only SMART Sipadan-Mabul Technical Diving :: Sipadan-Mabul Resort, Sabah, Malaysia. have the technical facilities for the whole Island at Mabul, Kapalai and Sipadan.

They have Nitrox filling station on the Island call Pulau Mabul (Pulau means Island) about 25 minutes using speed boat from Kapalai.

May be you can fill out at SMART during one of ur SIT at Mabul. They have Nitrox mixes up to 40%, advanced decompression and rebreather mixes up to 100%.

You can ask the boat man to go to Mabul and send for a fill up during the SIT and fly with ur RBs in Sipadan the next day.

The MK-15 friend (Mark Webb-Johnson) who worked there is no longer in Mabul. He came out of retirement and moved back to Hong-Kong, AFAIK.

I have no idea who is running that tech diving center there now. Sorry...
