(Rhode Island U-Boat?) Friends-Dive aboard EXPLORER May 6th

Diving season is here!

Thinking we might take EXPLORER out for a shallow wreck dive next Sunday (May 6th), Rebreather preferred, dunno where we'll go. Maybe the U-853 (and it would be one day after the May 5th 1945 62nd anniversary of her sinking). This is a non-commercial "Friends Dive". Let me know if interested. If we do hit the U-Boat, part of our day will be to set a mooring for the summer, so plan to assist. Otherwise we'll just hit the Sampson (and we might go there for a second dive & BBQ anyhow). U-Boat is 130 feet, we dive her at 90-110, and the Sampson is shallow. Think that if we hit the U-Boat that it'll be the first time anyone has seen her this season, and with the huge 'Noreaster two weeks ago, she might have some new surprises for us.

Sailing from the Top of the Salt Pond, Wakefield Rhode Island.

PM for details, I'll figure it all out after I know who is interested.

I'll be bringing the rEvo so if anyone wants to see it in action, this is a good chance.

Dave

Hi Dave,
We got there last week. The mooring situation is a mess. Weather permittimg we'll be there again Sat. & Sun. Hope to have the moorings straightened out then.

Hi Chuck,

Yup, that blue poly that the boys from CT used last year *sucked*. The midships mooring (white nylon) that was left is what I set to replace it mid season last year, it's my old nylon anchor line and ought to be OK for another season if it can be retrieved. Be a good thing to cut all the old crap off though.... to much shit floating around. Looks like a nightmare.

Let me know if I can kick in for some of the materials as we share the spot.

Need to talk later about the Doria as well. PM me your phone number? Lost it someplace.

Say a prayer to the crew "Still on patrol" inside her on Saturday. 62 years ago Saturday they met their needless end.

Dunno if you can call it "lots", but I've wrung it out sufficiently to be very pleased. I'm bringing it to the Doria, so confidence is high. Look on the rEvo forum if you want more info. See you there to answer any questions.
