| Re: Ned to rent bottles in Roatan I was there in Jan'07. BIBR and AKR resorts have the oxygen. About sorb and tanks you probably should contact Tim O'Leary at NAUI tech. rgrds tomek |

| Re: Ned to rent bottles in Roatan I asked a simmilar question a few months ago from someone that said they dove there. They said... Quote: I dive with CoCo View...since 91...have over 400 dives there over the years..I have been diving one or more rebreathers there for at least 6 years. I have no Roatan experiance but I dove in Utila last month with my Evolution. They have seen divers with Dragers and Inspirations since I started diving my systems. They roll an oxygen tank out for me on the dock beside the boats. They do not have sorb. You should contact them ahead of your trip...just to make sure the rules have not changed since November. They do not have a booster...and you will need your own whip .but I just carry a jetsam with me, snag a tank for drive air. On the dock you should talk to Osmond or Bobby. Only one dive shop had a booster to fill O2 tanks above 1800 psi, Bay Islands Collage of Diving (BICD). A pretty good operation overall. Resort, dive shop, good boats, resturant, all in on tight area. Also the site of the only chamber on the island. The shop on Utila that seamed to have the best overall tech diving support was the Utila Dive Center. Good boats, nice shop. The hotel that they are associated with is a couple of blocks up the road buit has a very good resturant. They sometimes have sorb, and do have O2 but no booster. They also run other tech diving programs. I expect to take the Evolution back there in the next month and will be using BICD again but I pack in my own sorb, battteris, spare parts etc. Both shops have web sites. Also Deep Blue advertises tech diving but has no rebreather support.

| Re: Need to rent bottles in Roatan I dived with the Bay Islands Beach Resort back in '05. The NAUI tech week was in October, and I timed my week to coincide, so of course they had plenty of O2 and sorb, but I took my own cylinders. Turned out this was a very good decision. Best to contact them directly and check in, but I had a great week. -Ja- |
