| Staying Silent! Mostly... Current Rebreather/s: | Hi all, Thanks for your comments. Maybe I should have posted back to this thread sooner, but I've been too busy out enjoying my Meg In the end I decided to do exactly as Wreckweasel says, learn in the environment you are going to do most of your diving in. So I spent 2 weekends with Dave (Decodiver) at the NDAC in Chepstow learning to fly the Meg whilst kitted in drysuit/thick undersuit, thick gloves etc. I think had I gone to Egypt or the U.S it might have felt a bit too easy or more like a holiday and ended up getting a shock when back in the lovely chilly UK waters trying to do Dil flushes etc with thick gloved hands.... | Staying Silent! Mostly... Current Rebreather/s: | Nope, no dry gloves for me. I find them to much grief to put on, plus I find that as long as the rest of me is relatively warm I can pretty well tolerate my hands getting cold.

| Hi all. The course certainly wasn't a holiday with starts at 8am,2 dives a day averaging 100mins each and then lectures in the evening-so making it 12-13 hour days.Yes the conditions are better than the UK where I do most of my diving, but I'm under no illusions that I'll have to spend a lot more time acclimatising myself further to the Meg in this country's colder water conditions-days at Stoney and Chepstow. The beauty of the Red Sea was as someone said,it gives you extra time to dive the unit and get used to it and how it works. I did do the Inspiration Mod 1 course in this country earlier this year with drysuit, gloves etc so I'm looking forward to some nice winter's diving! |

Well, I did mine in the Pacific waters near Vancouver, in conditions much worse than I get here in Portugal (water temp. was around 6C, when in here it usually doesn't go below 10/11), and it was tough. Neil Should I say now that that fact made me a better Rebreather diver in my own conditions? Not for sure. Having had different conditions I would have made much more dives (or longer dives), improuving my performance, before I would dive the unit without my instructor, by my side ... just my opinion Sue |
