| What bubbles? - DOH ! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | pre-training for a Boris I am looking to get trained up and go for a Boris in hopefully 6 months or so time. I am clear on how to get trained up and purchase the unit, my question is what is best in the run up (besides dive, dive and dive) In the meantime I am diving O/C and a dolphin, but I am keen to tailor my diving and skillset to the most applicable for when I go for the boris. Currently I am only advanced nitrox and deco procedures trained and dived, so I am assuming that the best wil be to get the trimix training done, and, as thought before, dive, dive and dive some more. I would be very intrested in getting the opinions and feedback (be as direct as you like guys) from the guys on this group- more on training than choice of unit. Looking forward to it.. Roy |

| Re: pre-training for a Boris IMHO wait until you have your Boris and time on it before spending money on doing a trimix course. In the meantime read, read and read so you understand closed cicuit theory inside out!

Then do a search on the Boris on here and read up on all the issues / problems with the unit in actual use. Finally produce a list of questions for your instructor based on this research. Make sure you cover things like cell failures current limiting etc. Hope it goes well. ATB Mark Chase

Roy I am based in France but teach CCR in Geneva and am booked to do my Boris instructor course in January with Phill Short. I am in Geneva teaching a Meg course next weekend and if it is not too far to travel why not come down and have a look at our Boris' and bring your Dolphin and come for a dive with us. If you cannot make it, don't worry as I am often there and we would be more than happy to talk through the preparation for your training with you. First thing you need to know is how to use a VR3 that will help a lot. Feel free to PM me or drop me an email if you think I can help. All questions welcome! Cheers, Dave Cooper.

| What bubbles? - DOH ! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: pre-training for a Boris This site is easily one of the friendliest I know. As a none german speaker in Switz I was finding it hard to penetrate the diving community for the type of diving I like. Having found this I looked someone up on the map facility, had an email back 5 mins later, and was diving later that week ! FANTASTIC !!! Dave- fantastic offers- thankyou.. I am unfortunately away next weekend (romantic weekend, so I can Justify 2 more weeks in Hurghada this year)- however I would be most keen to meet up and drool at your toys... please keep me in the loop when you are there next, lunch will be on me! (and hell there are some good restraunts in geneva!) I know my way round the VR3 a bit now, so not too many worries there... One more thing- where do you get your kitty litter from- france? Guys ! thanks! really appreciate this- Dave, utmost respect ! Roy |

| Nefarious Activist Current Rebreather/s: | Re: pre-training for a Boris Bathtub, Without knowing how your current rig is set up, when diving boris you will use offboard gas for suit & wing, you could decide how to set this up now. You will also need to carry offboard gas for bailout, you could practice carrying a side slung stage with a bungied 2nd stage around your neck, this could also feed the suit/wing but watch the hose routing. I run an argon bottle connected by 2 x double-enders to the LH side of my backplate, this feeds suit & wing, works for me but YMMV. Enjoy! Ian |

| What bubbles? - DOH ! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: pre-training for a Boris very useful idea.. thanks Iani- I will look at setting that up in the meantime, and getting used to it. Downside- nothing- learn a new config, upside, get used to soft side of new rig earlier. Appreciated ! Roy |
