| Gas Cost for MOD2/3 Does anyone who has done either MOD2 or MOD3 on an Inspiration remember how many litres of O2 and helium they used during the course itself? Just trying to figure out how much to budget, on top of the course cost, for things like lime and gas. Thanks mark

| Re: Gas Cost for MOD2/3 On the average, about 2L per minute of both O2 and diluent is a good estimate. However, the total amount of gas also depend how many skill sets your instructor is going to pull on you as well. If he wants you to do a lot of diluent flush or free-flow exercises, it will waste more. Regardless, just calculate 1 complete fill of O2 and trimix per dive of on-board gas will be the worst case. And 1 for bail-out stages per 2 day (1 or 2 dives).

| Re: Gas Cost for MOD2/3 You must have an incredably inexpensive course to be considering the cost of gases My guess is that you'll spend more on fuel getting there....

Doing two 60-70m dives Mon and Tus, should cost me 150 bar out of a 3ltr of trimix using 15/65 so about £15 in Trimix £14 in lime and £6 in 02 OC it would be more lke £320 for two 15ltr twin sets and two 10ltr stages of 32 and 80. Aint CCR great ![]() ATB Mark Chase

| RBW Writer ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Gas Cost for MOD2/3 Hi Mark I'm about to start CCR trimix training. Depending on the mixes and skills (in which you'll use or not all inboard and offboard gas) your instructor wants, it's easy to do the calculations: Here's an example of my case, for one dive: Inboard gas: O2 and Tx 15/50 Offboard gas: Tx 20/40 and EAN 50 Cylinders: Inboard: 3lt O2 Inboard: 3 lt Tx 15/50 Offboard: 7lt Tx 20/40 Offboard: 7 lt EAN 50 Gas needed: Tx 15/50: 100 bar He + 11.4 bar O2 + air to 200 bar Tx 20/40: 80 bar He + 19 bar O2 + air to 200 bar EAN 50: 74 bar O2 + air to 200 bar Calculations: Inboard O2: 3 x 200 = 600 lt O2 Inboard Tx: (3 x 100)= 300 lt He + (3 x 11.4)= 34.2 lt O2 Offboard Tx (7 x 80)= 560 lt He + (7 x 19)=133 lt O2 Offboard EAN: (7 x 74)=518 lt O2 Amount of gas for first dive O2: 1285 lt He: 860 lt Plus: sodalime If you know the mix you'll use and size of cylinders, you can do your own calculations. For the next dives, the amount of gases will depend of the amount used in the previous one. Hope it helps Sue |

| Gas Cost for MOD2/3 I don't know if you're already comitted to this yet, but if it helps I did Mod 2 last week, well the mix dives part anyway. I had: 1 x 2ltr of 10/50 2 x 2ltr of 100% o2 1 x 10ltr of 20/20 1 x 10ltr of 60% o2 All cylinders were filled from empty apart from the 2lt o2's. I used one one cannister full of lime over 2 days. Total cost of gas was £58 Hope that helps.
