Just for info; the hoses aren’t the same ID. It is a really easy thing to adapt though and was one of the first things I did with my Meg. All that you have to do to fit a KISS DSV to a Meg is file the tabs off the quick disconnect cuffs on the DSV and it is a perfect fit. You will also have to change the flow direction. If that's correct, then a KISS DSV fitted with the new Jetsam QD should fit just fine, if Stuart wanted it...

| I have tried Open Loop a couple of times now at depth and also bailing to the OC/DSV. With min loop volume it still takes a few exhales/lung crush before the ADV fires as pointed out. What worries me is the WOB is soooooo hard on my ADV, I really can't help thinking that if I don't move quickly enough, if my breathing rate is very high then things are going to be very uncomfortable...

| This ADV/WOB issue varies breather to breather. Personally I like my ADV to have an "edge" so I can feel it well before it fires, but this makes open loop a lot harder. I guess this is where the bailout DSV has its strengths....

When I got back on the boat the problem was found. The tank pillar valve was sticking. Although the valve was fully open and breathed fine on the surface (I always to a pre dive breathe), at 72m it was like sucking through a straw! Was quite a shock when the DSV gave me practically nothing! Good lesson to learn though. (The tank wasnt mine) Closing and opening the valve fully a few times cleared the problem. Took me back a bit having to go straight back to the loop Id just been forced off - hey whats a ppo2 of over 2 bar for a few mins ![]()

| I didnt say anything at the time mike, but I was taught that you test your bailout as soon as you arrive at your target depth, to make sure it works where you're likely to need it. ![]()

Thats just what I decided my new SOP would be. I always used to check my stages on the surface, but never at depth. After this incident I do both. Thats what I like about diving - theres something to learn/improve upon on/after every dive.![]()
