| Pro-Tec Diving I was wondering if anyone on here has recently used Pro-Tec Diving, protecdiving.com, for CCR training, or any training for that matter. If so, please provide your thoughts, either on here, or to TordoffR@aol.com. I'm also interested in the logistics side of things too. Hotels, rental cars, food, and of course cerveca! Thanks in advance for your help!

I did my OC cave training with Pro Tec in Mexico. Very professional and through. There are many resorts in the area and depending on when you go, you can get some great deals. I stayed at one all inclusive, cost with air fare from ALbany, NY was $1200.00 per person. Matt picked me up at the resort each day so traveling was not an issue. Thanks in advance for your help! | Cap Ron scourge of the NW ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Pro-Tec Diving I too highly recommend Protec in Playa Del Carmen, if fact I am jumping on a plane wed to head down there again. Unless you hate walking, you dont need a rental car, just have protec hire you a van to get to their place from the airport and they will drive you around for all the diving. there are tons of places within a 10 minute walk for shopping, dining and sight seeing. Cant help with the Cervesa cause I dont drink, but there were plenty of folks tippin em back all over town, so dont think it will be a problem. : ) We are flying continental through houston, fare was $350 usd. Protec is the IANTD HQ for mexico and cuba and instruction is excellent.

| Megalegalegalegadingdong! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Pro-Tec Diving I did my CCR Cave with Mike in Playa Del Carmen a couple of months ago. I could not fault him or Protec in any way, shape or form. Mike has a personal touch that goes way beyond personal service and there is a very friendly and professional attitude in the shop (even when i allowed Mike's Inspiration to take a tumble from the desk onto the floor . I had a great week and came all the way over from the Ukraine via the UK for it. I don't regreat this choice one bit and am really looking forward to going again (though i have to think of a course that Mike can teach me!!!)Seriously, you only get a good instructor and dive shop through reccomendation and I'm sure Protec, their instructors and Mike will have many supporters here from RBW. Regards, Nick

| Re: Pro-Tec Diving My buddies and I did tryout dives on the Optima and the Meg with Mike and Matt. The degree of professionalism was way above expectations. They were generous with their time and explanations. I cannot think of a negative aspect.

| PROTEC MEXICO ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Pro-Tec Diving food, and of course cerveca! yo There are exelent shrimp taco's, ceviche's and cocteles on the highway at la Floresta, and meat tacos at Pactorcito on avenue 30 between 26 and 28 street. Dona Mary on the other side of the street from Pastorcito is selling exelent Turkey Salbutes and Turkey soup. My personal choice restaurant in town is still Babes on 10 street between 5 and 10 avenue or on their second location on 5 avenue between 28 and 30 street. The place for steaks is the Argentinias steack place Buenas Aires in the back yard between 8 street and 5 avenue. If you like yo cook yourself or we do one of our bbq upstairs the best meat you get on 1 street south between 30 and 25 avenue, they have a small outdoor restaurant too where they have bbq every day. Dac has the best vegetables in town and is on 30 avenue on the corner of avenue constitujentes, they have a small outdoor restaurant too. There is a large variety of beers in Mexico, some are only local but some are national. To name just a few here is dos equis, dos equis negra, medelo especial, modelo especial negra, pacifico, superior, tecate, montejo, sol and some more ... As I do not drink beer a lot but there is a great selection of wines in our supermarkets such as Comercial Mexicana, Wal Mart, Super San Francisco, Chedraui, Sorelana or Sam's Club. A lot of them wines are from Chile, Peru, Argentinia and California. If you are in cigars off course we have them cubans, but for my taste they are a litle strong but you can find a great variety of Mexican, Dominican Republic, Honduran and Nicaraguan cigars. Saludos Matt |
