![]() | Which tank connects to ADV? Hi, During my Inspiration course I never had an ADV valve fitted on my unit, so didnīt cover any routing regarding this. I now have fitted an ADV on my Inspiration and am wondering when I am diving Normoxic Trimix which tank is best to connect the ADV hose to, my 3 litre onboard tank or the 11 litre tank of bail out/back up mix that I carry? Any pro's or cons to either method? At the moment I'm routing to my onboard tank as there is enough gas for dive requirements and I don't have to mess about with the stage tank if I need to ditch it or pass over to another diver. Look forward to hearing how other divers do this? Warm regards, Andy |

It is just a substitute for your finger on the button. Tom Mount goes so far as to put a trombone-valve on it, use it to the bottom, and then shut it off.

I believe Rob was referring to the shut-off valve sold by APV (for example) to isolate feeding diluent gas to the ADV.It is a common practive to shut-off the ADV once reached bottom so any temporary "funny" position on your trim (i.e. tilt upside down to peer under a piece of wreckage) won't activate the ADV and added unnecessary gas. Doing so while you dive MLV, then you won't have to adjust the lung volume as often if you tend to break off the perfectly-horizontal position often.

It is barrel-shaped, or tubular, and the on-off control slides back and forth.I don't know off-hand where APD get their units, but M&J make a beautiful version. Here: www.oxycheq.com
