Re: MOD3 with Mel Clark - The simple version

Well, before I throw my photos into the mix, Brock and I would just like to send out a big thanks to Team SD for their part in the new "nothing stronger than fruit juice in class" rule. Aside from that, I don't have much to add. I was pleasantly surprised to be paired with a competent buddy of similar experience background - definitely a contributing factor in terms of what we got out of the course. It was an excellent week with lots of questions answered and fantastic dives. Thanks again Mel and Curt.

Owen

Curt at the helm

Brock with Scott who came down from Vancouver for the day to join our expedition to the bomber in Lake Washington.

I don't know what Eric was keeping secret here, but he and Curt never missed a mark all week.

Mel, Brock, Owen, Scott, and Erick on the PB4Y-2 Privateer

Brock cursing my now-crap OC sac rate while waiting to drop on the Al-Ind-Des-Ka-Sea.

Mel on the Al-Ind and probably with similar thoughts.

I'm sitting in the Seattle airport waiting for my flight home and reflecting on the last week on MOD3 with Mel.

At first, I thought I landed at the wrong airport - The sun shone for the entire week I was here. I lived in Seattle for a short time, and back then, it rained every damn day. Not this week - We had perfect weather.

We started with the normal "lets make sure you're not going to kill your buddy nor your instructor" dives. We did these at Alki, across the bay from downtown Seattle. These dives were drill heavy but we had a good time.

The next couple of days we spent in Lake Washington, diving the "Hunk of Junk" and the Bomber. The bomber is in 150ft of water with viz of about 5' and dark as night. Passing through 60ft and it gets VERY dark. The bomber itself is very well intact, and you can read more about it here: Bomber. We got a chance to see a good amount of the wreck and it was nice being that deep with no narcosis.

We also dove the "Hunk of Junk", which is a little deeper at 200'. This is the remnants of either a barge or floating roadway - We're not sure. One of the drills done on this particular wreck was our OC bailout from depth which went of without a hitch.
Congrads to you all. Mel and her team? do put you through the drills but in the end, one feels pretty good with what they have accomplished. The "Hunk of Junk" is quite a neat type of dive.

Well done to everyone fellow MOD 3'ers.

Bill now that you are a official CCR diver and are on Rebreather World. Don't you think it is time to update the avatar. You are no longer mobile bailout or do yo want to be thought of as that still.
