Rebreather Training Course with Dan Crowell

Tech Diving Limited is proud to offer you an outstanding rebreather training program with legendary diver and trainer Capt. Dan Crowell. Join us for a week of training at TDL headquarters and learn rebreather diving using the Inspiration Series or KISS Series rebreathers.

Dan Crowell is the former skipper of the legendary, "SEEKER" dive boat and a pioneer of the early days of technical diving in the northeast. Dan has used and dived just about every type of dive equipment imaginable, ranging from a double hose regulator fitted to a single 72 to the most advanced modern day closed circuit mixed gas rebreathers as well as commercial hard hat rigs. He has spent thousands of hours underwater performing commercial work, shooting video for broadcast TV, instructional dives, and just having fun. He is one of only a handful of instructors that can draw from such a vast and unique experience base to pass along to his students. Dan's experience with rebreathers outweighs most any other instructor in the world. If you’re looking for the best training, go with experience.

Normoxic Rebreather training is the first step in using your closed circuit rebreather. Here you will learn the benefits, hazards, and proper procedures for using your new rebreather with air-diluent and oxygen for dives 130 fsw and shallower. You will learn not only the science but all the techniques and procedures for using your rebreather. Assembly, set-up, pre-dive checks, scrubber packing, cleaning, general maintenance. You will also learn how to dive the unit for extended no-stop bubble-free diving.

During the course you will learn how to use your rebreather first in confined water and gain 120 minutes of practical skills time. Then you will head out and do at least 360 minutes of diving in open water over 6-8 dives with progressively deeper dives each day.

Pre-requisites:
To enroll in this course you need to show proof of 60 dives or more and have a minimum certification level of Advanced Nitrox. If you do not have ADV EAN certification that can be combined into this course with an additional day of academics. You will also need to own, purchase from us, or rent a rebreather.

Course Dates: July 7-12 2008
Location: Lake Havasu City, AZ with dives in Lake Havasu and Lake Mohave.
Lake Havasu is a blast in the summer -- you will have an outstanding time. Plus you will get a chance to experience at least one or two meals at Joel's house.

Lodging (not included)
Hampton Inn Lake Havasu City, AZ
245 London Bridge Road, Lake Havasu City, Arizona, USA 86403
Tel: +1-928-855-4071 Fax: +1-928-855-2379

Course Fee: $2000 includes: All instruction fees, class room materials, all pool & o/w dives, cert card, boat fees, gas fills, and sodasorb. This fee is based upon you owning your own unit or renting a unit from us.

Purchase a new KISS or Inspiration unit from TDL and Save $500 on your course fee.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to use a rebreather this is the course for you. Tech Diving Limited and Dan Crowell together will provide you with an un-matched learning and educational experience. This course is limited to 6 participants. Sign up early and let's get your equipment ordered.

We look forward to you joining us.

Hey Marv,

Dan and I started to do work together about 7 years ago. Then once I got out here to the West Coast we have done more and more. We get on great together. Having him come out here for a rebreather training program is just great. Plus he gets to see his mom who lives in town here! If you have ever wanted to learn rebreathers in a practical way without a lot of the picyune stuff some instructors put out (in place of experience) Danny is the guy to do it with. Everyone he has trained only has great things to say about him. So when it came time for us to jump into the rebreather training business we brought him on. Who better than a guy with an epic resume like him?

Oh and one more thing. he makes a wicked martini!

Cheers
JDS

Re: Rebreather Training Course with Dan Crowell

Dan is a great teacher. I did the Inspo course with him two years ago in Pompano Beach I never has an instructor pull out "flash-cards" underwater...he makes you think.

And yes, his martini's are pretty good

Re: Rebreather Training Course with Dan Crowell

well not for nothing but paul raymaekers did the flash card thing too, only the cards were half in flemish? beligian? <ie :minimum longe vol>

but Dan is an ok guy, i remember the first time i met him. once we came upon the seeker tied to stolt, the second capt was at the wheel as Dan was diving. they graciously allowed the mate <me> to swim a line down their anchor line to tie in. So as im clawing my way down here comes danny on his way up, cf200 covered in rust. he looks up as im flailing my way down and i, well, i kicked him in the 'manifold'. I got the look. you know the "ow! the what are you doing swimming down my anchor line with a big azz rope you lunkhead.!!"

we straightened everything out during the surface interval. i got twenty lashes, again.!

best of luck with the class joel. you coming to BTS?

Re: Rebreather Training Course with Dan Crowell

Martin used flash cards to. I had problems reading the Russian side of the card though!!! Dan is one of a kind, if he can't teach it, no one can. I've seen him in action. Looking forward to diving with him again.
