4 new CCR dvrs in Brazil

Hi guys,

We finally had a big CCR course down here, conducted by Mike (mikedive on Rebreather World).
Last week a group of four divers finished their O2ptima Diver course and three of them also did a COPIS meg cross over.
Mike was extremely professional in his duties and proved to be a real nice guy too.
Congrats to the students: Eduardo, Carlos, Luis and Hilmar, for their hard work during the long hours of the course.
And congrtas to me too, I finally have CCR divers where I live and don't have to be the only freak on the boat anymore!

Here is some pictures. Hopefully the new divers will join RBW soon...

Best,

Zé.

Surface Interval on the boat:
Mike, Zé, Luis
Carlos, Eduardo, Hilmar

In the water, the first time 3 different types of rebreathers meet down here: Ee had the Optima, the COPIS and I had to use the Dolphin since my ccr is upgrading electronics.

Congratulations to all ... of course they'll blame you now for the holes in their wallets, the bitter ends to their relationships, probably even the occasional flat tire.

Re: 4 new CCR dvrs in Brazil

Congratulations to all and on your new CCR buddies, Ze! Mike is a great guy - we had the pleasure of his company on a Pompano Beach SCRUBs dive back in November. Did he have a big bag of M&Ms on the boat for the surface interval??

Good luck to all and hope some of our paths cross on a boat some day.

Congrats, parabéns, may I ask where in Brazil are you guys based/dive? Last time I was there (a while back) CCR was pretty rare (Floripa)...

Re: 4 new CCR dvrs in Brazil

Glad to hear the rebreather community is expanding down in Brazil. You also couldn't of picked a nicer guy to complete your course work with, as I too have had the pleasure of diving with Mike here in Florida.

Parabéns!

Re: 4 new CCR dvrs in Brazil

Hi Fil,

the new divers, as I, are based in Sao Paulo: the largest market for diving but not the best water... Rbs are rare, until now you could find a dozen dolphins and very few CCRs... none around Floripa that I am aware of. The family is growing these days...

I don't know if your remeber but, some years back (2003 I think, I was living in Florida those days) you and Piotr were king enough to show me the Pena cave, you guys were on CCR and I was on OC with some of your buddies... It was back then that I decided to switch to CCR...

Best,

Zé.

Hi Zé, Parabéns!

Mya, my cook and first mate is from Sao Paulo, (Santos actually) and we are going to come down next year for a week or two. What about the diving? Should I bring a rig and plan to meet you guys?

Bom divertimento, Tchau!

Dave

Hi Dave,
absolutely bring your rig (or rigs, or the whole shop...).
Santos is 45 minutes from Sao Paulo and one of the best ocean diving is in a large rock about 25 nm off Santos, called "laje de Santos". We also have the wrecks of Ilha Bela, about 2 hours drive and some others in Rio, some 4 hours drive, some big ones, some deep ones, viz is not usually great but we enjoy them as much! Lets keep in touch, we will be glad to organize some dives when you guys are down here.
Best,

Zé.

Oi!

Sport Kiss, I think for weight reasons. Real reason to visit is Caipirinha and feijoada, as Mya has already trained me for this.... . I wake up still full, but with a headache. Looking forward to coming.

Caipirinha is great stuff... on a humid day the condensation on the outside of the glass freezes to ice as the alchohol evaporates from the drink itself... this stuff is good. NEVER drink it in a hot tub, trust me here. I almost drowned. Gladly she saved me at the last moment from certain death.

Até mais!

Dave

I don't know what variations of caipirinha you had so far. I love the classic with "cachaça" and lemon. Nowadays you will find a wide variety here, with vodka, sake, with mango, grapes, berries and what not...
Anyway.. it's lethal if you don't pay attention!
I can tell we will have a tour when you come down.
Best,

Zé.
