I ask because lots of people do this- go diving, cap it in the unit, dive it again the next day (its been sat 20+hrs on the boat) as there is no noticable incident rate directly attributed to this it "must" be okay, I'd just like some science and numbers thats all

There isn't going to be any number available, so just forget it.

Training is easiest when we teach people not to use 'judgement', because we cannot TEACH it. So.... "BIN IT" is what is taught . And if you do that... you will NEVER have a problem. So that's that! It's what I will teach you if you come and take a course. End of discussion.

The 'sorb has "x" adsorbant potential. It doesn't care if that is spread out over 1 day or several....

The unused portion of the scrubber bed does not 'react' with the used fraction.

The scrubber *itself* can be harmed *over the long duration* by the wetted powder inside it... it can SCREW UP anodizing, and cause corrosion to metal bits, etc. This alone is sufficient reason to dump the crap if it's going to sit partially used for a long period.

The "Next Dive Planned" impacts my *personal* judgement as to use as well... ANY ocean dive gets a fresh scrubber if it's a week later. For a pool training dive, or a quarry training dive? I might be inclined to use it a little longer.

The next day on a boat? That's a no brainer.

Dave

You would have thought so, Molecular Products guy said- "no, don't do it" but of course they want you to use 2.5kilos every day as they sell the stuff.
