| HammerHead CCR Training I am trying to set my schedule for the comming months.. I already have some training requests from individuals and need to be able to get groups together.. If anyone has interest please PM me for details.. The current agreement will JM will have ALL HammerHead CCR conducted through ANDI. Most of the first batch of units (ready for immediate delievery) are already spoken for but a few are still available.. PM or email me for more info/interest. I am already in the process of writing the factory and ANDI training manuals. So far the only confirmed week is Jan26-Feb2 2008 in Grand Cayman I have requests for training in feburary in Venezuela and either march or April in Denmark.. I also have a request for Greece sometime in the late winter early spring 2008. In cold climates I will limit the groups to 4 students in warmer locations I can take more students since I will not mind doing additional dives (student ratios will still be kepts between 2 and 4 divers per dive)

| Re: HammerHead CCR Training Hey all, A clarification is in order: ANDI is doing the initial Instructor Training on the Hammerhead CCR units. We have sold out of all the first run, with another big batch being manufactured now. Come January, when the next run becomes available, Tom Mount of IANTD will begin training Instructors. Only those individuals who meet the respective agencies criteria will be allowed to become instructors, with the requirement that the Instructor actually own their own system. Joe Radomski and Tom Mount are both personal friends, and have both been hugely supportive of me and my company over the years. Joe is starting ANDI training immediately, and will be authoring the Manual for the Hammerhead CCR. We welcome Instructors who wish to get trained on the new system to contact Joe and/or Tom to discuss their upcoming training schedules. All the best, Kevin Juergensen Juergensen Marine, Inc. |

| Re: HammerHead CCR Training If I already dive Hammerhead electronics and want to buy the new Hammerhead CCR, do I have to take a course anyway? Yes..Everyone will be required to get a certification on this CCR.. I have to work out all the details for a crossover, proof of proficiency will be required to qualify for a crossover instead of a full class.. The electronics are a definately an area where complete knowledge is an asset, but the assembly/disassembly of the rig and the proper packing of the scrubber is just as important. Some very experienced HH users have already committed to crossover classes.. No one is exempted..

| Re: HammerHead CCR Training OK, I resisted asking this question earlier, but... I have a meg with: - both metal handset and delrin handset HammerHead heads - A Golem Gear BOV - A manifold for both O2 and Dil that allows for plugging in off-board - A cis-lunar radial scrubber I am also CCR trimix and CCR cave certified. What would I learn in a cross-over course that couldn't be covered in 30 minutes of teardown/reassembly demonstration (that I could probably figure out on my own...)? I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but seriously, how different is this unit from the one I've been diving? Clearly there are some differences in how the head attaches and details of t-pieces, etc, but does this really require a cross over course? T |

I don't think you are being a jerk nor directed directly at you but...I have a meg with: - both metal handset and delrin handset HammerHead heads - A Golem Gear BOV - A manifold for both O2 and Dil that allows for plugging in off-board - A cis-lunar radial scrubber I am also CCR trimix and CCR cave certified. T From a manufacturer's liability standpoint he has to require a crossover.. Several of my first students are Meg instructors and some very experienced HH users.. I am 100% sure there is going to be alot of repetition, but I am also 100% sure I cant teach them something they dont know.. My next comment is not meant to be a smart ass, If you think there is nothing you can learn from training with someone else, then you shouldnt be diving.. I have experience with many rigs and always look forward to working with someone who has intimate knowledge of the new rig, and always look forward to discussing ideas.. There is always something to learn..

My perception of his question was not that he won't learn ANYTHING, but will it be enough to warrant the cost of a cross-over course. The legal obligation from the manufacturer is a different issue, and should be appreciated by everyone since it is an American manufacturer (i.e. ligitation crazy in the US). |

I wasn't pointing the finger directly at TIM, more of to the general divers out there who are thinking on similiar lines.. I REALLY don;t know what each person will get out of it.. some will get more than others even with the same gear histories, but since it is a us manufacturer, Kevin has to follow the industry standard that you need a certification on a specific rig.. In the past having hardware upgrades were probably in a grey area, but a complete rig is a different issue..

I have experience with many rigs and always look forward to working with someone who has intimate knowledge of the new rig, and always look forward to discussing ideas.. There is always something to learn.. I totally agree...but when is the last time you paid someone for training? As an instructor, I can see both sides of this issue. I understand the liability issues. I have paid for training where I have learned little or nothing, and I have also been diving with buddies who have taught me a lot. I'm sure it is awfully hard to cough up $1500 (or whatever the crossover class will cost) for training a system that you likely know 99% about before it even shows up at your door. I guess the answer is to find an instructor who can go beyond the explaination of the individual unit and teach you other worthwhile things during the class. Aloha, Charlie
