| Rebreather Training Greetings fellow divers. After alot of research into CCR's I think I have settled on the 02ptima from DiveRite due to support. My question is I heard of a new IANTD basicCCR class being given for AOW divers with nitrox experience and 50 + dives. My question is .....is there a student manual for this class that I can purchase to bone up on the knowledge I'll need to learn prior to taking the class. Also can anyone provide a direction on instuctors in Florida where I wish to take this class. If the IANTD does not have a student textbook for this class what suggested reading is there to prepare me for beginner CCR. ![]() Last edited by afrikeber : 18th September 2007 at 15:07. Primarily just the owners manuals. You can bone up by downloading them prior to getting you unit.![]() I am out of West Palm Beach, and can set up your class & dives down here, it will just take 4 days. PM me for details if interested. Regards, Bill

It's not unit specific, just general rebreather history, design, technique, etc. It helped me get a better understanding of rebreathers and I believe it could be a good tool for you, allied with the hammerhead electronics manual. Best, Zé. |

Good call on the Bozanic book. I bet I read that thing cover to cover a dozen times before my class. The book also has the constant PO2 tables in the back and a bunch of other usefull tools.Best, Zé. |

| Re: Rebreather Training Afrideber, I completed my Optima training a short time ago and am really enjoying diving the Optima. I chose to purchase the Optima, becuase of Dive Rite's reputation and because of my geographic availability to a top Optima Inctructor (Mark a.k.a N2diving) and one of the top tech stores (Fill Express a.k.a. Dive Rite Express). I was asked to read the Jeff Bozanic book, the Optima Manual and the Hammerhead Handset Manual prior to the start of the class. If you read those three items prior to the start of the class, and take the class with a knowledgeble instructor who actively and primarily dives the Optima, you should be fine. Once you complete your training, definitely keep posted to this site as a resource for ongoing information and problem solving advice. I have also been able to dive with several other rebreather divers that I met via this site, including other Optima divers. Good Luck and Safe Diving! Adrian

| Re: Rebreather Training The IANTD TekCCR is a good read, but not required for the initial CCR course. It's 'information overload'. The Bozanic book is required, but I don't teach from it... and in my experience because it interweaves SCR and CCR it can often confuse the novice. -- Mark |

| Re: Rebreather Training Mark, Please thank the folks that made it possible for putting supporting literature like this online (for sale.) It's a great help and nice to see a online source for those little extras. Thanks, Andrew Green AppliedThe IANTD TekCCR is a good read, but not required for the initial CCR course.
