| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | WTB - Meg diver student kit Hey Gang I broke down [funny pun] and finally bought a Meg and am going for training thru Bahamas Underground on Oct 1-8. I am in need of a new "Meg diver student kit" so I can read and be ready when I get there. Anyone know where I can buy one and get it shipped pretty quick? Thanks Vern |

| Re: WTB - Meg diver student kit Buy the ANDI Megalodon Recreational Rebreather book. It is, IMHO, the best book for learning the Meg via a text. It has everything from dive planning to breaking the unit down and cleaning it. ANDI International: Recreational Diving with Closed Circuit Rebreathers - Megalodon CCR Text It's a bit pricey at $75, but I think it is very well thought out and layed out. It seems very comprehensive as well. Padipro loaned me his copy when I went for training with Jill Heinerth. She seemed very impressed with the book as well. It does also have Q&A. Have fun with your new Meg!

| Re: WTB - Meg diver student kit I'll second the recommendation for the ANDI manual. I agree that it's a bit pricey, but it's certainly a well written and informative text. I believe that the actual 'course materials' vary widely from instructor to instructor. But if you're looking to be well informed before you show up for class, the ANDI manual is the ticket. Of course, I wouldn't get too excited about learning before you get there--after all that's what you paid THEM for. Brian

| Re: WTB - Meg diver student kit I used the book ISC put together for my class and found it to be pretty good -- heck it's from the folks that make the unit so it's gotta have top notch info in it. I especially like how there are pictures that go along with the checklist. I'll second the note about getting into it too much before you get down there. Better to learn the right way the first time and not have to worry about unlearning something you've only read about. Until you get to class you can can drool over all the Meg pictures in ADM. You can also read up on the unit here: http://www.advanceddivermagazine.com...galodonCCR.pdf Cheers! |

I took my IANTD course through Jill Heinerth, and she liked the ANDI materials. Yes, IANTD will require that you have their materials, but basically, that is just two thin books. One has just the prints of the Powerpoint slides, and the other is like a workbook. There is an actual hardbound text book by IANTD and Jeff Bozanic called Understanding Rebreathers, but it is not required. I bought it, and while is has some good general information on rebreather diving, it is not specific to the Megalodon course. So, in short, you will have to buy the IANTD manuals. They are available on IANTD's website. IMHO, they are useless compared to the ANDI book. I would buy the ANDI book for your personal use and to augment/supplement the IANTD materials. The ANDI book is what is getting all bent out of shape from ongoing use. ![]()

You can see their products on their site, but I cant seem to find where to order them. I just need the kit/packet for the class. Anyone, Anyone? |
