| Kiss Sport Normox Course Hi! A couple of months ago I decided to take the normoxic course on my rebreather (Kiss Sport). Since I work for Emperor Divers in Sharm El Sheikh, I had the chance to have Aaron Bruce from Tekstreme as my instructor, TDI being the training agency. Theory I'm a marine biologist and extremely interested in physiology. This course covered widely all the aspects of diving deep with mixed gas and their effects on the human body. Aaron is very well up to date, so he gave me a few extra articles that had just been released. Moreover I had the opportunity to read a fantastic compendium containing all the articles that Dr. David Sawatsky wrote for the Diver Magazine in Canada. During the classes, since I had the luck to be the only student, I had the opportunity as well to discuss anything I wanted to understand better. Practice 360 minutes is the minimum required underwater (we actually did a bit more). In the first dive we brushed up all the basic skills and then we added some more variables, like doing the skill while swimming. Then a few skills with the bailout and deco gas tanks. During the remaining part of the underwater training, Aaron put me under different unexpected situations at the maximum depth of the dive. Don't want to spoil the surprise for future students, so I'm not going to describe them all, but I learnt a lot from all of them. Since the Sport is recommended to 50 meters, I did the last two dive (55m and 60m) with the Kiss Classic. To sum it up, this is defenetely the best course I've ever taken. Reasons: theory part covering every aspect of normoxic trimix, practical part stimulating the student to react in difficult and stressy situation, final exam letting the student think and elaborate every single answer (no multiple choice). Thank you very much Aaron ^__^ DaN |
