| CCR Ox rig training question?? Greetings I recently acquired a Russian IDA 64 Ox rig - new, still in box. Wonder if anyone knows of a GENERIC training course which offers a CERTIFICATION in this type of gear. Reason: now days, most dive boats wont let you use this type of rig unless you are "CERTIFIED". Appreciate any help. THANKS SCoker sslcoker@aol.com |

| Re: CCR Ox rig training question?? Short answer is no - there is no approved training course for any Russian rebreather as the profitability/liability risks are not palatable to the various training agencies. Dave Sutton of nobubblediving.com and this forum, has a novel way of getting around that problem - apart from owning his own boat. The R.S.D.A.S the Russki Schnuffski Diving Association of Switzerland ( IDA 71,IDA 59,REBREATHER,KREISLAUFGERAET ) -Note that the North American office being Dave Sutton. Come on over to the home builders forum for more russki modification info Last edited by undrh2o : 25th May 2007 at 01:48. |

| Re: CCR Ox rig training question?? "Short answer is no - there is no approved training course for any Russian rebreather as the profitability/liability risks are not palatable to the various training agencies" What makes a training agency? And who would "approve" training on a military rebreather? Who approves training on the Mark-15? Not the out of business manufacturer, same as the CIS Lunar. A training agency is anyone who sets standards and engages in training according to those standards. RSDAS is a training agency, same as IANTD and TDI and ANDI. It's just focused differently. As opposed to focusing on new production factory rigs (IE: "where the money is", we focus on safe training on rigs that have no factory support. We stress a high level of skill, expertise in the hardware, and watermanship. It's not a giveaway card. RSDAS issues specific certifications on military rebreathers. Presently we train on IDA-59, IDA-64, IDA-71, IDA-72, and AKA-60 (from Russia) in addition to LAR-V and FGT-1D (Draeger) and DC-55 (France). The classes are comprehensive and the certificate is valid, and AFAIK nobody has ever been turned away for diving with one. The organization was founded in Switzerland in order to offer certification on these otherwise unsupported units, mainly in Europe, while I run the US office. Classes are offered in Russia, Germany, Brazil, Switzerland, The UK, The USA, and a few other places. It's not a joke, and we have a 100% safety record for the divers trained. We teach on both stock and modified units as per the applicants requirements. Contact me by PM for details. Dave Sutton

| IDA 64 - Ox rig training Dave If you have details on training course - let me know. I have the IDA 64 and it is in good shape and complete. Have already disassembled it and looks very simple. I have a Russian manual - may try and get it translated if cant find one already done. Can travel if need be to do the training - long as it is in US. Thanks for any help. You have?I've been looking but never found one. Any chance of a scan? Even in Russian it's better than what I have - nothing. (I've only been diving it a few years now)
