| No Viz is BAD Viz ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Tell me about your Training Hello Everyone In 6-7 weeks I am off for training on the Meg. At the moment, I am working through the ANDI Meg Manual and Reading Mastering Rebreathers in preparation. I really do not know what to expect or how hard it is going to be, I will know in time when me and the Trainer start my programme. Though I do think there will be a lot of arse kicking and headlocks involved. Now I do NOT want to know what is involved with the Course or what Skills there are, I will do that with the Trainer (Steve) when the time comes up But what I want to hear and read about is the issues you had with training or issues you had during training. You know the things that brought the message home. From the serious side, "where you shitted yourself when you realised what you were getting yourself into", to the the funny side "where you really screwed up and the Trainer hasn't let you forget, years after the event". All of them were learning experiences in their own right. This is regardless of the unit. Go for it... ![]() |

Naturally, bieing a highly accomplished and skilled technical diver with years of rigourous training and the benefit of razor sharpe muscle memory , and despite the fact that I was spinning like a gyro, I managed in a split second (or was it an hour...hell, I dunno) to close the valve.....mmmmmm, how I laughed. One seriously foobaared posieden extreme......Ah, well....lesson well learned I guess.....Pre-charge your stage,...ooops, my mistake!! I thought my instructors thorough debrief of the dive over our 'one pint' ration that evening really summed it up. ''Ian, your a fu**ckin tosser'' Ouch

| Re: Tell me about your Training With me it was buoyancy control, buoyancy control and error buoyancy control. Thats about it. By the end of the course I hated the unit with a Passion and was no longer on speaking terms with Andyp who had talked me into getting one. However Andyp (who i did the course with) kinked the main scrubber O ring and had a C02 bypass for the whole of the pool session day one. Then did the OH SH#T drill, turning off the 02 as normal as part of the drill and the din connector came loose and free flowed his 02. We had to take the back of his unit underwater and do up the DIN fitting. About then I decided the back box was a stupid idea. ATB Mark Chase

Doing the course doesn't make you a master of it!You heading to Perth for the course, or am I flying Steve to Sydney? Good luck with it mate, and looking forward to hearing about your experiences on the new unit. (btw, did you go electronic or copis?)

| Re: Tell me about your Training We make a nice skill We calibrate our Inspi, blow them with O2, trought them from the boat to 20 mtrs, go in apnea for them, flush the loop before breath and come back. Not very dificult if you do it with the mask on. Don't worry, just a joke Just enjoy your course and make as cuestion as you can to your instructor. I think it is the way to learn. Best Mikel

I am heading to Perth, haven't be there before so looking forward to having a look to see what Perth looks like. Learning lots now, I expect to learn lots in Training and I expect a lot of hard work, I expect to screw up only to learn from it, and I do expect boot up the arse when I screw up. I will let you know what happens, there will be a story in there somewhere, I ended getting the Meg eCCR (APECS, whatever version is out now), I did mull over getting the COPIS for a while as I did with the Classic KISS. But after did my sums which included the VR3 - HUD set up for the mCCR (similar to what was on the Classic KISS at OzTek, if you saw Kim Smith's Unit, you can get a similar set up for the COPIS), I decided to go for APECS Meg. |
