Hammerhead weirdness

Hello All,

Sorry if this is a duplicate post but I need some info before we head out day after tomorrow to the Philippines:

Issue 1 - Computer restarts during a dive after several dives - haven't checked the voltage but is this how it reacts to a low battery?

Issue 2 - Buddy's computer restarts intermittently during a dive, even with new battery. Could it be dirty contacts?

Any insight on both or either issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

BIll

PS - These are with Optimas and the newest verson that DR had when shipping.

Re: Hammerhead weirdness

Are you using emery cloth on the spring and Dielecric grease on the treads? Also I find the Saft batteries work much better, mine did the same thing.

If that fails take a large hammer and hit it a few times

Clean the cap, spring and threads and your problem should go away. I use a cue tip soaked in contact cleaner to clean the threads. I do this every couple of weeks when I change batteries.

refer to the thread referenced above (read the whole thread!) .. but in short clean the contacts.. always use fresh batteries, and if your battery caps were before aug 2006, you need to squash the threads on the cap a bit.. The battery threads are too perfect.. 3.6v lithiums perform much better than AA alkaline cells ESPECIALLY in cold water.. If using aa alkaline cells in cold water I suggest you change them after every dive, in warmer water after each scrubber change is fine..
