Yes it does work (I have used it on my HP laptop) , I have found that the keyspan usb - rs232 adapters seem to work with the greatest range of devices, many of the adapters don't simulate some of the low level hardware interrupt stuff.. The HSE computers don't seem to be very picky..There is someone that has connected the dive HSE computer with a notebook, using some Serial /USB adapter ? Also be aware that many of the adapters try to use com5 to com8 which alot of software does not like.. The keyspan stuff allows you to set it to any com port.. Also be aware that most of the better adapters allow multiple device settings, and that its recognizzed as a different device for each USB port you plug it into.. So if you set everything up for say a USB port on the front left of yopur computer, if you plugged it into a port on the back, none of your old settings are valid as its seen as a new device. If you look on the HS site, a USB interface is a suggested solution for communication issues with certain laptop computers that dont put out the proper voltages on the rs232 ports..
