Thanks

sorry about that.. sometimes I forget not all brands are popular around the world..

q-tip is a brand of cotton swab... over the years (in the US) the two have become synonmous just like xerox has become sort of a generic term for photo copying rather than just a brand..

HA HA HA! How rare that I am so rewarded while checking Rebreather World during my late night boredom. Thanks for the very good laugh Stephane!

"easier to manipulate..." you have an advanced sense of humor in what I'm guessing is your non native language. One would also think that Q-Tip has an advanced sense of humor, given such an alias ... -Andy

Re: HammerHead Revisions and Issues

I now have my HH since the beginning of 2008 (metal handset) and I never encountered any kind of contact problem.
I leave the battery in place between dives, and to prevent solenoid firing, I put it in OC mode when I'm ready to leave water.

Out of interest.
Would it fire the solenoid in OC mode if the PO2 dropped low enough

Yes at 0.19 PO2, see manual under Juergensen's Threat Matrix.

Re: HammerHead Revisions and Issues

The original post said that this thread was also for "wants."

Any chance in getting a more visable contrast between the background and displays? When compared with my backup Uwatec depth gauge, for example, the Uwatec's contrast makes reading it much easier than the HH.

The size of the display is always going to be a problem for those of us who use mask magnification while diving (we wear reading glasses when surfaced), but the size of the displays would probably be OK if their contrasts let the displays stand out more.

Contrast is just an adjustment of a pot.. They way I have seen most set is the normal adjustment.. you can darken the characters a bit but then you may see some artifacting... This is basicaly a dot matrix display and the contrast for all like displays is about the same.. To get significantly greater you need a segmented lcd display like the explorer.. the shape of the segments makes it a higher contrast.. The other alternative is to change the display to one that uses a different color combination, it will be better for some and worse for others..

I have poor vision myslef but have felt the HH has been one of the more readable displays that I have used.. I can read it alot easier than I can read a vr3..

as long as you use viton or burna-n o-rings there should be no downsides as the chemical has a petroleum base.. If you use silicon o-rings they will be severely degraded if them come in contact with the lubricant..
