| Fischer connector, how to use How to plug in a Fischer connector. Does it seal just plugging it in or do you use the turnable metal ring to lock it (or is that for taking the connector apart)? I've also read somewhere that you should lube it slightly, if so were should I put the grease? Maybe silly questions for most of you, but I can't find any information about it and it's a bit to exepensive equipment to risk doing something wrong. Thanks. |

Hi Jan.Maybe silly questions for most of you, but I can't find any information about it and it's a bit to exepensive equipment to risk doing something wrong. Thanks. There is an o-ring almost at the bottom of the female part, but it is very hard to see. You should lube the male connector on the outside near the end as this is where it seals with the o-ring. | Re: Fischer connector, how to use Be carefull not to *overlube* the o ring area, it can cause the o ring to be forced out of it's groove on insertion, and prevent the connector from sealing, it also won't go quite all the way in, which is your clue that the o ring has squirrelled out of it's groove. You'll feel a little "latched in feel" as you insert it the last mm or so. A little lube on the contacts is good as well. |

| Re: Fischer connector, how to use The "turnable metal ring" or what I would call a knurled ring needs to be screwed in to hold it in place. It is to prevent it coming unplugged underwater. The bottom of the case slides back and forth a bit. It needs to be pulled out to remove the plug. The knurled ring (when it is screwed down) prevents the bottom part from sliding, and therefore prevents the plug from coming out. I could show you in 10 seconds, but it's a bit hard to explain.
