| Decompression software for mobile phones The new version (3.1) of the decompression software JDeco http://www.jdeco.de can now also be used to calcuate CCR dives and bailout plans. JDeco is the first and only dive decompression program that is available for JAVA enabled mobile phones and PDAs. It utilizes the Varying Permeability Model (VPM-B) and Bühlmann's decompression algorithm with Erik Baker's Gradient Factors for mixed gas decompression in open-circuit (OC) and closed-circuit (CCR) diving mode. A trial version can be downloaded from the above website. It runs on in principle any JAVA enabled mobile phone or PDA. The list below shows the main features:

| Re: Decompression software for mobile phones Well Blackberry ... ![]() there are users of JDeco who have Blackberrys so I simply assumed it was straight forward to install the program also on these devices. Turns out the users probably are software people ![]() I think I figured out how JDeco can be installed on Blackberrys. Do the following: 1) Download the JDeco.cod (metric) or JDecoImp.cod (imperial) file from: www.jdeco.de/download/JDeco.cod www.jdeco.de/download/JDecoImp.cod 2) Download the JavaLoader.exe program from: www.jdeco.de/download/JavaLoader.exe 3) Copy both the .cod file and the JavaLoader.exe file in the same folder 4) Open a console (e.g. by "Start"->"Run" type "cmd" press "Enter") 5) Change into the folder where you have the two files EDIT: Connect your Blackberry to your computer via the USB cable. 6) Execute: javaloader -usb load JDeco.cod or javaloader -usb load JDecoImp.cod 7) To delete the application you can type: javaloader -usb erase -f JDeco.cod or javaloader -usb erase -f JDecoImp.cod I hope that helps! (Let me know ... I do not have a Blackberry) Best, Henning Quote: (Originally Posted by RichClark) For the blackberry challenged... How do I install this? | Classic KISS No. 226 ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Decompression software for mobile phones Thanks for the help so far... I think it's close, but not quite there. When I execute the command, it starts the RIM Wireless Handheld Java Loader, tries to connect, and then prompts for authentication. After successfully connecting, it attempts to load JDeco, but then fails with Error: invalid signature. Quote: C:\>cd jdeco I've just noticed that there's a new desktop manager version, as well as firmware for the handheld. I'll try updating this first, then try the above method for installation.C:\jdeco>javaloader -usb load JDeco.cod RIM Wireless Handheld Java Loader Copyright 2001-2005 Research In Motion Limited Connecting to device... | Re: Decompression software for mobile phones Hi! Oh yes ... after a bit more googling I maybe found the reason for the problem. Some quotes from the web: "This error message typically has something to do with your BES policies/restrictions on 3rd party software installation. Please check with your BES administrator." "It seems to be "locked down" by my employer, who provided it. The browser icon has a padlock in front of the world, and attempts to download anything give a 406 ("not acceptable") error. Attempting to upload .cod files using the javaloader from the Blackberry JDE result in a data transfer followed by an "invalid signature" error." So, if your employer has locked the possibility of installing third party software I will not be able to help you . Could you check that first and in the case that nothing is locked I will google a bit further.Best, Henning PS: I ran it now on a blackberry emulator ... there it works fine. | Classic KISS No. 226 ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Decompression software for mobile phones I checked with our BES admin, and we are prevented from installing our own software, by policy. Fortunately, I'm not a standard user I've installed it now using the procedure in your previous post and it works with out a problem. I'll give it ago over the next few weeks. Thanks for your help Rich

Unfortunately I still cann't install JDeco to my Nokia 6260. It crashed with some Java errors once I try to change gases or calculate a dive.I tested also some older version for while ago. Same problem. -- Harri |

| Re: Decompression software for mobile phones Yes I know, Nokia 6260 does not seem to be very compatible with Java ![]() The developers seem to have more focused on Symbian and neglected a nice implementation of a JVM. Actually on the Nokia emulator for the 6260 it is running but simulators are not reality ![]() Just in case you have visited the JDeco forum (accessible via the www.jdeco.de page) the 6260 is listed as the only phone (so far) on which JDeco is not running. http://www.setbb.com/phpbb/viewtopic...6&mforum=jdeco I am sorry for that but I really have tried everything to make it work also on the 6260 but without success. /Henning PS: One suggestion is to call or mail to Nokia and ask them why MIDP 2.0 applications that run on their official emulators do not run on the actual phone they emulate ![]() Quote: (Originally Posted by urho) Unfortunately I still cann't install JDeco to my Nokia 6260.
