| Re: ostc jdivelog For instructions of how to get this working on the Mac look here: thanks a lot, I see that uk divers are really good comptuer ingeneers ((-:OSTC and JDivelog on the Mac - Tecdivers - Technical Diving Forum HTH I'll see all of this this evening and try to follow what you and and other lad have told me to do. I home that Matthias also read this cause it is important for is company that everything can be used easily then it is at the time... The ostc is a really nice piece of kit, there are 2 problems that will make it on of the best product on the market : - there is no manual to use the sable soft version , and only a common manual xich is not exhaustive espécially about the dive moden there are thing that I still don't understand and that I wil try to sort out underwater on sunday - the jdivelog is difficult to install properly without being a computer scientist which I am not... but it is a young product and I have to say that Matthias replies quickly to my email . I hope this computer will be a commerçial success regards jean mi

| RBW Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: ostc jdivelog It would be nice to see a few more posts on actual diver experience with the unit. It seems the price point is much more attractive than the X1. I use a Shearwater for online deco and the OSTC as a PPo2 backup to the Shearwater (both running 10/90 GF). I love the OSTC, but I've not tried the new 1.22 GA S/W for it yet as I only got that last night but the beta 1.21 beta worked well for me.Also, it would be nice to know if anyone has developed any add on software for it to date. John I also have an X1 which is very nice, but I bought that when the dollar was 1.985 to the GBP. At the current 1.5 exchange rate I wouldn't buy one simply on price grounds and out of the water the tap thing drives me insane (works fine under the water). As for OSTC S/W there is supposed to be a cut down OC version for people wanting to run Ratio Deco (i.e user resettable average depth and seconds displayed) and I have heard that there is a copy of Mark Ellyatt's Deco Checker available for the OSTC but I have not seen this myself. |

| Re: ostc jdivelog Hi, I have used the shearwater for 5 months or so now, I am fullY satisfied of the computer itself. the display is really easy too read even if is a little bit tiny, even at the lasts stops when water is clear and the sun is shinning one can read the display but it is esier to read when the diver locates the computer under the wrist rather the on the wrist so that when one have a look and hold hold the hand for this the screen is no facing the sun ligth with a 90° angle. the computer is really compact making it easy to kit on when one passed the arm in the arness. even if it is plastic it is not fragile. it is very easy to open the small port to connect the computer to recharge it after 4 or 5 dives. the port is made from metal and not plastic it is easy to press the buttons underwater with only one hand and the menu navigation is easy , no need the learn the procedure by heart like on the hs explorer for example. the depth mesure is perfect compared with other computers I dived the ostc with which is not always the case, the issues for did not come from the ostc itself but only from the information arround -it was difficult for me to use the usb serial com device delivered with the computer cause the information on the site itself was not sufficient but Matthias the maker has replied IMMEDIATLY to my emails and helped me UNTIL i managed to use the usb device. the manual for the usb required to push the usb device before clicking "check pic" (to check the communication with the microcontroller) or before clicking " write flash" to upload a new version of the soft and then Matthias told me to reset just before clicking and magicaly it started working it is just nice to know that someone is there to reply when we have a problem. - the second problem I have comes from the fact that the present manual is not complet, for example it does not explains in details for each version of the soft how set the mixes and how to switch from CC to OC, I was running the 1.15 version , I have now the 1.22 version and I did not manage to fully understand the process. for the moment uderwater I've tried to switch but I don't know if I was on oc or cc after the switch and in addition I did not really could understant to what gas I had switched :):)...but I am not really intelligent even a bit stupid so....sometime obvious technical things stay invisible for me... the problem in my opinion is that the manes of the mixes in the set up menu and the name of the gases in the gas list only accessible underwat are differents...so when you read in the gas list G1 G2 M M M and that you had setted mix 1 mix 2 mix 3 mix 4 mix 5 you are a little bit puzzled belive me , it is just great that I did no have to oc bail out for real.... I love you my gauge , I love you my gauge.... some internet friends explained me that in the 1.15 version the 3 firsts gases were in cc mode where the 2 lasts were in oc mode...but I did not read this in the manual ...in addition what are the 2 lasts the G G ones or the M M M ones ? ... as for the 1.22 version (the last stable with GF's) I don't know hos it works and the wiki manual is not complete on this point. I'll see if 1.22 is better on sunday cause to date I have not managed to get the jdivelog sotf working and so I could not use the simulator to train . the only problem is that the surface mode is not accessible at surface so there is no way of trainning to switch gases without jdivelog. well what I can say is that the computer is great but the manual is not very good... sorry matthias if you read (I hope you do) but I think it is good to know what people need in reality. regards jean mi
