Hammerhead Electronics Upgrades Since purchasing a second-hand Inspiration with aluminium HH electronic I have had a number of problems with the handsets failing. To resolve this I'm considering upgrading my aluminium HH handets to the latest Delrin handsets, which I hear are more reliable. I've asked a lot of questions of Kevin at Jeurgensen and found him to be very responsive and helpful. I would like to hear feedback, both positive and negative, from anyone that has used, or is using, the Delrin handsets with an Inspiration. Thanks

Re: Hammerhead Electronics Upgrades Hi I upgraded to the latest delrin handsets in May this year and so far it has been a pleasure to dive the new electronics. I have only had to call 1 dive in that time which was down to weighting, and failing of an open circuit budddy and poor briefing. All in all the best decision I made was to upgrade. Barry

Re: Hammerhead Electronics Upgrades I have used the AL handsets and now have the Delrin. You can read about the functionality differences. I had battery contact problems with the old handsets but none with the Delrin. John

Re: Hammerhead Electronics Upgrades I had purchased a used Hammerhead with the acrylic handsets, got 1 dive out of them before I had to send the head back. I went with the upgrade to the Delrin handsets with two computers, have had no problem. Very quick turn around. My unit was done in a couple of weeks. Pat

I had no problems with the aluminum sets but did clean and add contact lubricant frequently to prevent the battery contact issue. It took a fair amount of work but was worth it to me to prevent the problem. I have been using the Delrin since they were first available. Zero problems. No maintenance, love the full deco option on the secondary. The are smaller than the aluminum sets, and they are lighter, too. I would definitely go for the upgrade again if having to make the decision at this time. I would suspect that it doesn't matter, but I should add that I am diving the Hammerheads on an Optima, not an Inspo. |
