| Re: HH Delrin Handset Issues Quote: Glad to hear that battery problems are no longer a issue. I'd probably still be diving a HH if I didn't have so many problems with the aluminum handsets. My aluminum handsets never worked right. I had to decide if I just wanted to sell it on, or double down and go for the upgrade. Chose the latter and have been delighted. No more battery issues, no more wetswitch issues, it all just works. I had one issue with the battery kicking out, but upon examination I found that the length of the battery was out of tolerance. I'm happy enough with it that I'm now thinking about putting an HH on my Mk15.

Did all that still had problems.I had a few issues myself with them. I was told to wire-brush the inside threading on occasion to remove any Oxide build up, which may not be visible to the eye, and to stretch the springs out a bit. And on occasion use a pencil eraser on the contacts, as well as using a contact cleaner & the black contact grease on a regular basis. Once I followed those procedures, I never had a problem. Richie

Since the units use some power, even when off, I don't put the batteries in until the morning of the dive. Same here. I calibrate the night before with the old batteries, and then I check one more time at the boat dock before taking my unit aboard. I put in the new batteries and check to make sure they are good at the dock, and then I take my Optima aboard for the trip. I set the warning to 1.2. |
