| X1 users? GAP or v-planner live? Hi Guys, Just made the transition to the Liquidvision X1. Now I'm trying to decide if I should get GAP software or Vplanner live. I wanted to get some pros and cons of each software from those using it. I like v-planner, but was leaning twords GAP as it should jive with my hammerhead better. Any opinions on which to use? Pro's and cons of the software you use? Thanks. |

I have also used V-Planner but never checked how closely it tracked the HH but I would suspect not as closely as GAP. I found both software equally easy to use. Hope that helps. John |

| Re: X1 users? GAP or v-planner live? I use V-Planner Live. Can't speak to the GAP software as I haven't seen it or used it. I like the VPL quite a bit. Well-designed interface, and being a software product manager I'm a harsh critic. In my mind this is the most important feature (after reliability and accuracy, if you consider those features). I like a lot the fact that it matches VP's desktop software. Over-the-net updates have been smooth. Drawbacks, and I can't speak to whether GAP can do these: * No pre-dive planning, just simulation * Log parser is a bit rudimentary and not Mac compatible * License is separate from VP desktop version Again I haven't seen the GAP software but I wouldn't hesitate to get VPL again. I've been incredibly impressed. Hope that helps. |

| Re: X1 users? GAP or v-planner live? Hi Guys, I've used both GAP and V-planner on desktop PCs. And I found far more stupid GUI-bugs in GAP, and liked V-planner more. So my trust in the software would be greater for V-planner.Just made the transition to the Liquidvision X1. Now I'm trying to decide if I should get GAP software or Vplanner live. Worked well so for except a minor skinbend on sundays dives - wich I'm sure I my stupid physiologi (checked with GAP and V-planner on max conservatism, and nothing in the profile.....). Regarding diving with 'X1' + 'V-planner Live' I can only say it rocks! Nicolai

The v planner is more stable at this point and works well now switching between bailout and oc. when it comes to how the interface displays underwater it is a more difficult one. Vplanner delivers big graphics mode and can rotate a lot of info on the dive screen. also because gap is still in beta testing there is no manual out yet but v planner has one available. The good news is both the guys behind the product, Kees and Ross are very responsive to requests and improvizing. I think their succes will make this computer the clear winner above vr3! Personally I prefer the Vplanner at this point as the bail out options are restricted on gap at this point. |
