Looks like a nice unit, but I'd like to see actual numeric voltage readings rather than a row of lights..... Seems to be the only drawback....

ZTS Multibattery Tester
This is truly an amazing battery tester. This is the only tester we have seen that can quickly indicate the charge level on almost any battery. Inexpensive battery checkers can give a good indication of the charge level of alkaline batteries, but the ZTS Multi-Battery Tester can quickly show the charge level of rechargeable NiMh and NiCd batteries as well.
The ZTS Multi-Battery Tester (MBT) can check more than 30 battery types, including the popular NiMH and NiCd rechargeable batteries. Its microprocessor-controlled pulse load test is the most advanced and accurate available. The MBT computes the battery's remaining power capacity (between 10-100%) during each test. It is easy to use - no switches or settings.
Microprocessor controlled pulse load placed on the battery at the time of testing gives a clear reading of the battery charge level. The ZTS-Multi-Battery tester doesn't have the ability to measure battery capacity (ie it won't be able to check if a battery is 1500 mAh or 2000 mAh) since that requires a tester which completely drains the battery over several hours.

Testing Capability:

3.6v Li-Ion rechargeable [RCR123A, 18500, 17650, 18650]
1.5v button cell [S76, A76, A625, A640]
1.2v NiMH/NiCd rechargeable [AA, AAA, C, D]
1.5v lithium [AA L91, AAA L92]
3v lithium coin [1616, 1620, 2016, 2025, 2320, 2032, 2430, 2450, 58L 1/3N]
6v ‘28’ series [28A, S28, 28L]
3v photo lithium [CR123, CR2, CRV3]
1.5v alkaline [AA, AAA, C, D, N]
12v alkaline [A23]
9v alkaline, carbon zinc
Power: 4 AA alkaline (internal)
Dimensions: 7.25 x 4 x 1.25 inches
Weight: approx 8 oz.
Batteries not included.

Re: Battery current checker-anyone try one of these?

I don't like the idea of a "pulse load" that I have no control over.

There is nothing stated as to the actual amount of load being put to the battery.

How do we know if it is the proper amount (and duration) to resemble the HH under a load?

Re: Battery current checker-anyone try one of these?

I've got a smaller & much cheaper version of this...from the same company. This one
ZTS Mini Multi-Battery Tester™ (MINI-MBT)
It's a great gadget and I use it all the time... If I lost it then I would immediately buy a replacement. What more can I say ??

i like it -not sure what pulse load it does put on the battery -but at least i can get some indication if ok
also it does not have a button for 3.6 volt AA size- so i am not sure if say the spot for 1.5v Lithiums is a real test of anything.
