Shearwater and different plug

Hi all,

I noticed on the Tecme website a Shearwater configuration with a fixed cable and a different plug (not fischer). Details on this page: Tec Equipment für Nitrox, Rebreather Höhlen Tauchen

I was wondering whether this is done by the manufacturer or by Tecme. The price is certainly not wrong. I'm also not sure whether it is for one cell or three cells.

Peter

Re: Shearwater and different plug

I think that you have only the fischer connector at the end which is to connect with the computer. When you get a fixed connection you install the computer directly to your breather (kiss kidney, meg head..) So it is a permanent connection. Give Martin a mail or call. He is very helpfully in all parts.

Hi Peter,

just some info.

All Shearwater Persuit computers can monitor 1 or 3 cells, depending on how many you connect. If you connect only one (the center) it will work with one cell. Connecting three..of course it work with three as it is made for....
The "2 sensor situation" is not possible.

All units are always coming with a female 7 pin Fischer plug in the unit. UNLESS specailly ordered with a fixed cable, this is of course done by the manufacturer.

And of course the controller unit has ALWAYS a fixed cable.

There is NO other plug shown, seen or available than Fischer besides a special ordered fixed cable, which is of course not a stock product.

I hope this clears your questio a bit.

Greetings

Martin

Re: Shearwater and different plug

I've got one of Martin's cables, yes it is a Fischer connector (different locking mechanism to the one shown on the Shearwater website though). Very nice it is as well (and a good price).

The reason it looks different is that there is a rubber boot over it which slides out of the way to expose the plug. I'm not entirely sure what it is doing but it looks important

If you are wiring it in yourself then the colours are on my website as it took a bit of figuring out as to which connected to where (there are 7 cores but only 4 are used):

http://www.lizardland.co.uk/KISS/rep...hearwater.html

I'm not sure if all the cables are wired with the same colour coding though, so you may have to work it out for yourself. The mV function on the SW is very useful for it.

Cheers,

Stuart
