![]() | Continuous VR3 Issue Anyone had their VR3 simply refuse to fire up? This is the third time it has happened within the last six months or so (it is treated like a baby). Been back to Delta P twice (3 times now Including yesterdays trip). I'd love to think this is battery related but I have only had them changed by reputable dealer (Inc Delta P) up to now. There were maybe 4 dives between the last failures so I doubt this is the issue, but who knows? Any ideas???? |

At least it will 'work'. My solution was the same as Curt's - but a Shearwater. ![]()

There were maybe 4 dives between the last failures so I doubt this is the issue, but who knows? Any ideas???? Hi, I had something like this happen with both my VR3s - only once each though. On one occasion, I blieve it might have been corrosion in the IO port. On the other, I had been reviewing my log and for the some reason, it failed to turn off and a few hours later when I came back to it, the screen was flashing strange hyroglyphics. In both instances the cure was the same - take the battery out and leave for at least half an hour. Then when I put the battery back in they started fine. Down side - you lose you dives except one (wierd that), you need to reset date and time, and you lose all your gases (not sure if anyting else is lost though). Anything that is "pinned" remains (your personal info, unlock PINS etc). At least that is what I found and they have worked just fine since. I have expeirenced this once on each VR3. (it's not MS WIndows but very Windows-like behaviour that's for sure. Hope this helped.... |

![]() ![]() | Re: Continuous VR3 Issue A few suggestions: 1. Make sure you are using a fresh battery. I prefer the 3.6v batteries they seem to last a long time. 2. Clean the battery contacts real well. 3. Observe the correct polarity - obvious right 4. Make sure your push buttons are free to move in/out. Sometimes they may get stuck and prevent the unit from starting. You can take them apart and lube them. I hope this helps. |

![]() | Re: Continuous VR3 Issue Guys, Thanks a bunch for the help, 'cause it is the third instance it has gone back to DP (again) so I am hoping to get something concrete back from them. The unit is looked after very well and was seen to turn off properly after the last dive a month ago and not been turned on since. Just wondering if I am doing anything daft, all buttons move freely, no sign of corrosion (without delving into it, which I don't do) I actually would buy the deep persuit head for the my inspo if i had the spare 2K as I've had the usual handset issues there too. Not been the best of years equipment wise!![]() |

![]() | Re: Continuous VR3 Issue if you are using AA batteries most will need the plastic wrap trimmed from the negative side towards the middle of the battery for it to make proper contact ![]() |

| Closed Circuit Divers Aus Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Continuous VR3 Issue Hey Colin, Generally the VR computers are a good reliable computer but like anything mechanical or electronic sometimes you'll get one that's to "Gremlins" I am sure Delta P will take care of it if you have to send it back. It sounds as tho you are doing everything OK as there is not really a lot you can do other than wash, clean and dry it off properly after diving. There can be a bit of an issue with water getting into the fischer connector and I personally use metal caps instead of the dodgey plastic ones. You can get them from Narked@90 and are not expensive. But if you see any green/blue discolouration on the pins you have a water/corrosion issue and should talk to Delta P about how to remedy it. The only other thing is to always check the orings for damage and lube the battery compartment cover orings with a little silicone grease before replacing the cap. I prefer the 3.6v Lithium batteries as they last much longer than the alkaline ones. Regards, Lance

![]() | Re: Continuous VR3 Issue How long (daft question, rough answers accepted with thanks!) do these last on Lithium batteries as i am using standard AA so far, average dive 30-50mins currently, backlight only on button press. Maybe this is the issue and I am expecting too much? ![]() |
