![]() | Re: Continuous VR3 Issue Hi Colin, at what point should DP do the decent thing and replace the unit, you've paid neck end of 700quid (guessing) and have at best a Friday afternoon lemon? I've had a vr3 for years with few problems, exploding buttons being my only bug bear and a battery lasts at least 3-4months of regular diving. I now have a Pursuit which is great but use the vr3 as back up. Since I got my Kiss with the Delta P display I have been made well aware of the battery cap issue which has plagued this company for years now, 20m the display goes off and won't come back on till about 15m, then goes off again at 20m, dive binned and Pursuit ordered. The vr3 is a good computer but has it's problems up to now DP seems to have been more than helpful, for some reason they seem to be letting you down. Good luck. MyM

![]() | Re: Continuous VR3 Issue Marky, the unit was second hand so I don't see DP as having to honour warranty. I was not aware of any problems with VR3s' when I bought it and am just seriously fed up with the hassle. DP reckon there is a two hour reduction in dive time from a battery after each week of "sleep" (off) mode but that the battery will last 1 year if the unit is off? I am no physicist so what that means in battery voltage/life terms doesn't spring off the page at me, but it sure sounds odd? I have to say, I would love a Shearwater pursuit as I've had problems with the classic handsets too, would kill two problems with one purchase, just got to win the lottery first! ![]() |

I've got 2 VR3s Rev B and Rev c, never had a problem with the caps. I keep 2 spare caps that I rotate every battery change not a problem. I change the batteries at 1.5V and log them. I don't even use Lithium batteries I use Kodak camera batteries and had very good life out of them. Never had an issue with a VR3 turing off underwater. And I have always had excellent service and responses to my questions - even if the key tech isn't there someone else lets me know. Being at the Rs end of the world, that is pretty darn important. On the other hand, I tried to order a shearwater for my KISS and had a less than satisfactory experience - nuff said. I would rather stay with the service. Strokes for folks I guess. The vr3 is a good computer but has it's problems up to now DP seems to have been more than helpful, for some reason they seem to be letting you down. Good luck. MyM |
