| Uwatec Oxy2 looses connection So I was diving with a guy a while back, and as his arm stretched out while scootering, he would loose the connection between his monitor and wrist unit (Oxy2 and Aladdin?). we all thought that it was the distance form the transmitter to the receiver. I talked with a guy last week who used to be a sale rep for Uwatec, and he was saying that the mag field generated by the scooter was the culprit... anybody have simular problems with the Oxy2?... just wondering... hoppy

| Re: Uwatec Oxy2 looses connection I have heard camera strobes have the same effect. So not a completely new issue. That propably doesnt make it less of a nuisance though ;-) Best regards Bo |

| Re: Uwatec Oxy2 looses connection I have two AirZO2s & both periodically lose their link with the pressure senders they are mated to. In the cases where this happened I was not using a scooter or camera/strobe. They re-establish the pressure after a few minutes but the related calculations are all screwed up. It is pretty irritating, not to mention potentially hazardous. Never happened with the Oxy 2, but it was always in the back of my mind. Personally I would not rely on wireless/hoseless technology in any critical application without redundancy. Another colleague with a similar problem but different unit was told by the retailer he was dealing with that some people generate an electrical field that interferes with the signals. This was after the computer & the 3 senders had all been back for checking & they could find nothing wrong... ![]() MarkK |

| Going Down? Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Uwatec Oxy2 looses connection Back when I was diving a Dolphin, it was sometimes necessary for me to have the Uwatec a little higher on my arm to prevent signal loss from the Oxy2. It was only an issue with my arm outstretched. They told me that all my "toys" were causing the interference.

| Re: Uwatec Oxy2 looses connection Back when I was diving a Dolphin, it was sometimes necessary for me to have the Uwatec a little higher on my arm to prevent signal loss from the Oxy2. That happened all the time to me when I was using an Oxy2 on my Dolphin. I had to always wear the unit on my right wrist so that it would be closer to the transmitter. If I turned on my camera strobe, or got the HID too close, the thing would lose connection instantly. The only thing worse is that it was highly prone to flooding (3 Oxy2 units, two wrist transmitters, and a SmartCom console...all flooded due to manufacturing defects.) After about a year of fiddling with the damn thing, I gave up, bought a VR3, and I've refused ever since to dive anything Uwatec any more. Pure junk. |
